The Driver or Machine Operator must:
➢ Remain calm, even if their tires begin to burn.
➢ Remain at their control or within the cab, due to the fact that there they are in no danger of
electrocution. Attempts must then be made free the machine/vehicle from the power line and
take it to a safe area.
➢ Warn everybody in the vicinity not to touch the machine/vehicle.
➢ Not get off/out of the machine/vehicle until it has been removed to a safe distance from the
power line. If the driver/operator gets off/out they enter an overhead power line -
machine/vehicle-ground circuit and are therefore exposed to the danger of electrocution.
➢ Not use the habitual means of getting off/out if it is impossible to separate the
machine/vehicle and absolutely necessary. Instead, they must jump as far as they possibly can
away from the machine/vehicle and avoid touching it.

General Rules of Action
➢ Do not touch the machine/vehicle or the fallen power line.
➢ Warn everybody in the vicinity not to touch the machine/vehicle or the power line and not
to do anything reckless.
➢ Warn everybody outside the danger area not to come near the machine/vehicle.
➢ The victim must not be given first aid until the machine/vehicle and the electricity power line
have been separated and pulled out of the danger area.

What to do in the Event of a Gas Leak involving the Risk of Fire or Explosion:

➢ In the event of an uncontrolled gas leak where there exists a risk of fire or explosion,
everybody must evacuate the area affected, the area must then be cordoned off and nobody
apart from employees of the installation company must be allowed into the area in question.

➢ If a gas main is accidentally broken or there is a suspicion of a gas leak (sound, smell, etc.), the
gas supply company must be notified immediately.

What to do in the Event of a Broken or Leaking Water Main:

➢ The installation company must be immediately notified and all works halted until the main
has been repaired.

➢ If necessary, the area must be cordoned off.

➢ C.5.-What to do in the Event of a Broken Underground or Overhead Telephone Cable:

➢ The operator must be immediately notified so that it can be repaired.
