If you’re working in
the heat, you’ll need 3 to 4 glasses of water per hour to replace water lost to sweat. Be sure
to start at the beginning of your shift, and don’t wait until you’re thirsty. By this point, you
may already be dehydrated.

Preventative Recovery Period
➢ Get out of the sun if you think you need to. Take rest breaks in cooler, shaded areas for at
least five minutes. If you suspect heat
illness, get emergency medical assistance immediately. Call 911.

1.3.6.- Collective Protective Equipment

Protective against falls.
➢ All area that have an expose edge of more than 6 feet must be protected with a railing
system as per OSHA standards.

Wheel chocks
➢ Can be made of two pieces of 3 in flanged wood fastened to the ground or a similarly
effective system.

Protection around excavation sites
➢ To protect against people falling into excavation ditches, railings will be installed around the
perimeter of the excavation site at a minimum distance of 3 ft from the edge of the ditch.

Railings
