ARTICLE 22 <br />HOLIDAY LEAVE <br />Section 1. Employees shall be eligible for the following schedule of paid holidays. When <br />a holiday falls on Saturday, the previous Friday will be observed, and if the holiday falls on Sunday, <br />the following Monday will be observed. <br />New Year's Day <br />Martin Luther King's Birthday <br />Presidents Day <br />Law Enforcement Appreciation Day <br />Memorial Day <br />Juneteenth <br />Independence Day <br />Labor Day <br />Veterans Day <br />Thanksgiving <br />Day after Thanksgiving <br />Christmas Day <br />Two (2) Floating Holidays (to be credited the first paycheck in <br />January of each fiscal year) <br />Section 2. Where it is necessary to maintain regular services requiring an employee to work on <br />an official holiday, in addition to regular pay for time worked on a holiday, such employee shall receive an <br />extra day's pay, provided the employee exceeds the normal work week. Paid time off on holidays shall be <br />equivalent to the employee's regularly scheduled workday. For example, if an officer is re ugularly scheduled <br />to work a ten (10) hour shift, holiday pay shall reflect ten (10) hours rather than eight (8) hours. <br />Section 3. A. If an employee is on authorized leave when a holiday occurs, that holiday <br />shall not be charged against leave (authorized leave refers to vacation, illness, injury, compensation time, <br />etc.). The employee must work the day before and the day after each holiday to be eligible for holiday <br />pay with the exception of normal days off or excused absences. <br />B. Deferred Holiday Pay Program: Employees shall have the option to accept holiday <br />pay for the corresponding holidays as mentioned in Section 1 above, or upon application to participate <br />in the City's Holiday Deferred Pay Program, to defer the holiday pay until a later time upon which it <br />shall then be made payable to the employee by the City. The Holiday Deferred Pay program <br />application is to be renewed by the employee every calendar year. No minimum vacation hours <br />needed to participate. <br />-34- <br />160 <br />
