For transit-related tasks, CALTRAN coordinates with Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) and other <br />relevant providers to evaluate route alignment, bus stop accessibility, ADA compliance, and first/last <br />mile connectivity, leveraging real-time transit data and GIS-based ridership analytics. <br /> <br />4.8.Transportation Demand Management (TDM) <br />CALTRAN's TDM approach combines demand-side strategies — parking pricing, ridesharing <br />incentives, micro-mobility integration — with supply-side improvements to pedestrian, bicycle, and <br />transit infrastructure. We have applied TDM principles on South Florida coastal corridor projects <br />including the SR-A1A Collins Avenue Multimodal Corridor Study (FDOT District 6), providing directly <br />applicable experience for Sunny Isles Beach's barrier island transportation environment. <br />The applicable TDM strategies for Sunny Isles Beach may include: <br /> <br /> <br />Dynamic curb management <br />With event-driven reallocation of loading, TNC, and shuttle zones—near high traffic <br />tourism and event zones (e.g. Collins Avenue Resort Corridor, Newport Fishing Peier <br />/ Pier Park, Public Beach Access Points, Pelican Park) <br /> <br />Mobility hubs <br />Future implementation of a potential bike/scooter-share program and transit <br />stops at key pedestrian nodes, designed with ADA accessibility and shaded <br />waiting areas. <br /> <br />Employer-based trip reduction programs, <br />Including subsidized transit passes, parking cash-out policies, and flexible <br />scheduling to reduce peak-hour congestion. <br /> <br />Intelligent wayfinding systems <br />Using real-time parking and shuttle availability feeds to guide visitors away from <br />congested areas during peak events. <br /> <br />First/last-mile transit connectors <br />Potentially integrated with microtransit pilots, for improved accessibility to Miami- <br />Dade Metrobus routes (75 & 100) <br /> <br />Mobility as a Service (MaaS) <br />Leveraging a single digital platform to integrate public transit, bike- and scooter- <br />share, ride-hailing, and shuttle services into one seamless user experience. For <br />Sunny Isles Beach, MaaS can provide residents, employees, and visitors with real- <br />time multimodal options tailored to their trip needs, reducing reliance on private <br />vehicles while supporting the City’s sustainability.
