It requires balancing the needs of residents, visitors, pedestrians, <br />cyclists, transit riders, businesses, emergency services, and ongoing development—all within a <br />constrained and heavily traveled coastal corridor. CALTRAN Engineering Group, Inc. is uniquely <br />prepared to help the City meet that challenge. <br />CALTRAN is a Florida-based traffic and transportation engineering firm with more than 15 years of <br />experience and a staff of over 45 transportation professionals. From our Miami office, located <br />approximately 28 miles from City Hall, we can provide the City with responsive, senior-level support <br />for routine assignments, urgent safety concerns, and complex projects requiring coordination with <br />Miami-Dade County, the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization, Miami-Dade Transit, and <br />FDOT District 6. <br />Most importantly, we already understand Sunny Isles Beach. CALTRAN performed the traffic analysis <br />supporting FDOT justification for the planned pedestrian bridge over SR A1A/Collins Avenue near City <br />Hall and completed the Sunny Isles Beach Pier parking study to support FDOT grant application. <br />Moreover, CALTRAN worked recently with the City on the development of a comprehensive Central <br />Island Improvements and Master Plan. Through these assignments, we gained firsthand knowledge of <br />the City’s transportation environment, limited rights-of-way, pedestrian activity, parking and curbside <br />demands, and the operational importance of Collins Avenue. This familiarity allows our team to begin <br />each assignment with meaningful context rather than a learning curve. <br />Our experience also extends throughout Southeast Florida under continuing-service contracts with the <br />cities of Miami Beach, Miami Gardens, Miramar, and Oakland Park, and FDOT Districts 4 and 6. which <br />is expected as part of traffic and transportation services. These relationships have prepared us to <br />address the same issues emphasized in the RFQ: multimodal and transit planning, traffic operations, <br />safety and Vision Zero initiatives, traffic calming, parking and curbside management, development <br />review, signal timing and optimization, ITS, first- and last-mile connectivity, public engagement, grant <br />support, and interagency coordination.
