RFQ # 26-07-01 | CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH 49
CES CONSULTANTS, INC.
As part of the Kissimmee River restoration project to restore over 40 square miles of river and
floodplain ecosystem, including 43 miles of meandering river channel and 27,000 acres of wetlands,
the US Army Corps of Engineers enlarged the C-37 Canal to provide storage and flow requirements
for flood control. The C-37 Enlargement project included widening and deepening of the canal to
allow flow between Lake Hatchineha and Lake Kissimmee.
The Zipprer Bridge is located on the C-37 Canal that runs between Lake Hatchineha and Lake
Kissimmee in Central Florida for Camp Mock Road. The project included the design of a new 16-foot-
wide, 230-foot-long, one-lane H15-44 bridge adjacent to the existing bridge, followed by demolition
of the existing bridge once the new replacement bridge was certified for use by CES’s Florida state-
certified professional engineer. The project had a very critical schedule, and the project design was
completed so as not to impact the completion date.
Additionally, CES, as the Design Engineer for the project, was contracted by the District to provide
Engineering During Construction (EDC) services. CES services included:
»On-site representatives to examine design critical components throughout construction and to
provide technical assistance when requested by the District to address any construction issues
that have occurred, or at critical points of the construction.
LOCATION
Polk County, FL
OWNER
South Florida Water
Management District
COST
$2.2M
KEY FEATURES
Civil Engineering Analysis,
Modeling & Design
Roadway & Bridge Design
Structural Engineering
Interagency Coordination
Construction Engineering
& Inspection Services
Construction Management
& Contract Administration
Hydrologic/Hydraulic Modeling
Construction Submittal Review
Constructability Reviews
Change Directive & Change Order
Development & Review
Enforcement of Contract Terms
& Conditions
Pay App Review
Permit Compliance
Public Outreach & Stakeholder
Coordination
Substantial Completion & Final
Project Certifications
As-Built Drawings
Public Infrastructure
QA/QC
Structural Demolition
Materials Testing/Analysis
Reporting
SFWMD CSC TASK ORDER: ZIPPRER CANAL (C-37)
BRIDGE REPLACEMENT DESIGN & EDC
