multimodal accessibility. Our extensive experience in the
region gives us a deep understanding of local conditions,
regulatory frameworks, and community need, allowing us
to deliver solutions that are practical today and adaptable
to the evolving demands of tomorrow.
STORMWATER
CHA’s hydraulic engineers have experience
in all aspects of surface water evaluation
and design, including field reviews, data gathering, agency
coordination, detention-retention pond design, large pump
stations, and hydraulic modeling/drainage analysis to relieve
street flooding. We can prepare full-scale computer models
using state-of-the-art software. CHA has conducted
investigations on watersheds ranging from several acres
to several thousand square miles. These evaluations have
included flood profile studies and stormwater management
master plans. CHA has led efforts to develop adaptation
strategies for sea level rise, flood risk management, coastal
protection, and transportation planning. We have also
designed and delivered a wide range of construction
projects that improve climate resiliency and reduce
sea level rise impacts in Miami Beach and surrounding
communities. These include stormwater conveyance systems,
inlets, drainage wells, pump stations, seawalls, water quality
improvement projects, and habitat protection initiatives. Our
work also includes the completion of stormwater management
master plans for both municipal and regional clients.
CHA’s strength also lies in its permitting expertise and
strong agency coordination. We have established trusted
relationships with Miami-Dade County Water Control Section,
the South Florida Water Management District, FDEP, FDOT,
and USACE. Our experience includes the entire permit
procurement process including preparing permit sketches and
applications and successfully obtaining approvals for complex
drainage and stormwater projects.
CHA’s proven expertise is demonstrated through major
stormwater master planning efforts such as the Miami
Intermodal Center Drainage Master Plan and the SR 826/
SR 836 Interchange Drainage Master Plan and Pump Station,
both of which addressed complex permitting and chronic
flooding challenges. Also, in Miami Beach, our work includes
the Nautilus Neighborhood Improvements, Miami Beach
Convention Center, and Crespi Boulevard, each incorporating
stormwater pump stations to address the City’s severe
flooding conditions.
WATER/WASTEWATER
From small-diameter residential rehabilitation
to major pump/lift station designs, we know pipeline and
pump station infrastructure design. Our conveyance design
work is completed in AutoCAD, while more complex designs—
such as horizontal directional drill (HDD) installations of
3,000 LF of 54” HDPE force main in the City of Miami Beach
or 2,100 LF of 42” HDPE water main crossing Tavernier Creek
in Islamorada—leverage our 3D modeling capabilities and
proprietary HDD calculation sheets based on industry-
accepted standards. For the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer
Department, we recently completed the 52 MGD regional
booster station No. 300 upgrades and are currently designing
two parallel 36” HDPE force mains, 1,800 LF each, installed via
HDD along Indian Creek Dr in Miami Beach. Our expertise also
extends to treatment plant design—from small chemical feed
systems to forced draft aeration, ozonation, granular activated
carbon (GAC), and reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment
plants (WTPs), as well as advanced nutrient removal and
membrane bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment facilities
(WWTFs). These plant designs are developed in AutoCAD
Plant 3D, enabling detailed visualization of complex in-plant
piping, wall penetrations, and early detection of design
conflicts. Be it water, wastewater, or reclaimed water
conveyance and treatment, we are capable of meeting
your needs.
STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
Our structural engineering team has established
an outstanding reputation in South Florida,
offering a wide range of services and expertise. Supported
by over 100 bridge and structural design professionals, our
Doral, Florida-based team excels in designing concrete
and steel bridges, bridge replacements, Accelerated
Bridge Construction (ABC), and various other structures,
including seawalls and miscellaneous structures. We
utilize the latest design software and adhere to AASHTO
and FDOT standards to ensure high-quality outcomes. Our
experience includes successful projects like the Okeechobee
Road Reconstruction, showcasing an elevated T-intersection
