Designed to mitigate tidal flooding and sea level rise, <br />the pump station has the capacity to move approximately 80,000 gallons per minute and serves a <br />drainage area of roughly 84 acres. The project included construction of a 96-inch trunk line to collect <br />flows from Collins Avenue and surrounding streets, as well as a new treatment structure equipped with <br />axial pumps and overflow controls for system redundancy. The design also incorporated trash racks, flow splitting weirs, and <br />resiliency features to prevent tidal intrusion. In addition, the project included construction of approximately 200 feet of higher <br />seawall with a minimum top elevation of 5.70 feet NAVD, ensuring long-term flood protection and serving as a prototype for <br />future stormwater pump stations throughout the City. <br />Reference: City of Miami Beach – Jose A. Perez, PE; <br /> T: (305) 673-7071; | CHA Fee: $450,000 | Year Completed: 2018 <br /> NPDES OUTFALL ASSESSMENT PROGRAM – DISTRICTWIDE | FDOT DISTRICT 6 <br />CHA has supported FDOT District 6 for more than a decade as program manager for the NPDES Outfall <br />Assessment Program, overseeing the investigation and evaluation of stormwater outfalls serving the <br />state highway system. The program includes assessment of structural and environmental conditions, <br />identification of critical issues, and development of recommended solutions such as cleaning, <br />repairs, easement and right-of-way evaluations, and structural improvements. CHA’s scope includes <br />data collection, GIS inventory review, field inspections, title searches, permitting coordination, and <br />feasibility evaluations for repair methods. Final deliverables consist of detailed assessment reports, updated GIS databases, and <br />cost estimates to support implementation. CHA has completed over 260 outfall assessments, including full coverage of the City <br />of Miami Beach and other coastal areas, addressing current and future sea level rise conditions. <br />Reference: FDOT - District 6; Nathan Pulido, PE; <br />T: (305) 470-5264; | Year Completed: Ongoing <br />SEA LEVEL RISE MITIGATION PROGRAM | CITY OF MIAMI BEACH <br />CHA served as program manager for the City of Miami Beach’s Sea Level Rise Mitigation Program, <br />supporting citywide efforts to address the impacts of rising sea levels and coastal flooding. CHA <br />partnered with the City to assess risks associated with shoreline inundation, groundwater flooding, <br />and infrastructure vulnerability, and to develop a comprehensive framework for evaluating adaptation <br />strategies. These efforts included scenario modeling, infrastructure planning, coastal protection <br />strategies, and transportation improvements to help inform policy decisions and prioritize resilient <br />infrastructure investments. <br />In addition to planning and analysis, CHA led the design and implementation of climate-resilient infrastructure projects <br />throughout the City. Key efforts included stormwater system improvements, conveyance pipes, inlets, drainage wells, pump <br />stations, seawalls, and environmental protection measures. Representative projects include the Nautilus Neighborhood <br />Improvements, Crespi Boulevard Seawall and Pump Station, 11th Street Sea Level Rise Mitigation, Prairie Avenue Pump Station, <br />Biscayne Point Neighborhood Improvements, and Washington Avenue Upgrades.
