PAGE 28 | RFQ 26-07-01; CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING CONSULTING SERVICES <br />(CCNA) <br />TAB 2 - QUALIFICATIONS <br />ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING <br />SR-826/SR-836 INTERCHANGE RECONSTRUCTION | GREATER MIAMI EXPRESSWAY AGENCY (GMX) <br />In this monumental project, multi-level flyovers were built in order to construct the SR-826/SR-836 <br />Interchange. As a part of the design team, CHA took on the task of designing an entirely new lighting <br />system throughout the project as well as on side-streets that were impacted by the construction. <br />Our new lighting system consisted of approximately 1,000 new light poles and 100 under deck <br />luminaires. All of this is also required 7 service points. Aside from Florida Department of Transportation <br />and Miami-Dade Expressway Authority standards, we successfully met all applicable Federal Aviation Authority requirements <br />with our design. <br />Reference: FDOT - District 6; Daniel Iglesias, PE; 1000 NW 111th Ave, Miami, FL 33172; T: (305) 470-5464; <br />E: daniel.iglesias@dot.state.fl.us | Year Completed: 2017 <br />DESIGN-BUILD TIGER GRANT | FDOT DISTRICT 4 <br />Funded by the TIGER grant program, this initiative integrates bicycle lanes and shared-use paths <br />into Broward County, Florida, creating a network for cyclists. These pathways span state highways <br />and local routes, offering extensive access and encouraging healthier, sustainable transportation. <br />Collaboration was key, with CHA working with the Broward County MPO and local municipalities to <br />secure funding. This effort highlighted a shared vision for enhancing regional mobility and creating a <br />more interconnected community for cyclists. The strategy included design tactics like ‘lane diets’ to <br />optimize traffic flow, reducing lane widths for bicycle lanes, and selectively widening roads. Effective drainage was addressed to <br />ensure sustainable infrastructure. Adherence to the ADA was crucial, with evaluations and adjustments to curb ramps to meet <br />accessibility standards, making paths accessible to everyone. The project also introduced Landscape Furnishing Areas (LFAs) <br />to enhance visual appeal and user experience. Thoughtful landscaping, hardscaping, and decorative lighting improved the <br />infrastructure, promoting active transportation and highlighting Broward County’s natural beauty. <br />Reference: FDOT - District 4; Thuc Le, PE; 3400 W Commercial Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309; T: (954) 777-45526; <br />E: thuc.lee@dot.state.fl.us | Year Completed: 2023AWARD WINNER <br />STORMWATER PUMP STATION AT MIAMI BEACH CONVENTION CENTER | CITY OF MIAMI BEACH <br />The CHA team, on behalf of the City of Miami Beach, completed the design for the construction of one <br />of its largest stormwater pump stations. This pump has the capacity to move 80,000 gpm and is just <br />one of 80 stormwater pump stations the city will construct within the next 8-10 years to combat the <br />tidal events and sea level rise. The project encompassed an area of approximately 84 acres. As part of <br />this drainage improvement project, a 96-inch trunk line was also constructed in this initial phase. The <br />pipe was designed as a collector pipe to receive flows from Collins Avenue and the surrounding streets; this will be completed <br />in the near future in the final phase. This design was intended to serve as the prototype for the other pump stations that the <br />city plans to construct in the future. In the initial phase of the pump station, trash racks capture solids that are 1-inch or larger <br />before the flow reaches the Collins Canal. The remaining flow is split into trains, with a capacity of 40,000 gpm, and is directed <br />to a water treatment structure and then a wet-well equipped with two 20,000 gpm axial pumps. The pump station has been <br />designed with overflow structures for redundancy and to prevent intrusions from tidal events.
