PAGE 5 | RFQ 26-07-01; CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING CONSULTING SERVICES <br />(CCNA) <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (MQRs) <br />| MQR #2: EXPERIENCE <br />UPGRADE OF SEWAGE PUMP <br />STATION 2 <br />City of Miami Beach, FL <br />Pump Station 2 involved the comprehensive rehabilitation of an existing submersible <br />wastewater pump station that had deteriorated significantly due to prolonged structural <br />and mechanical deficiencies. The project focused on restoring system reliability and <br />extending service life through a combination of advanced hydraulic evaluation and <br />targeted structural rehabilitation. A detailed hydraulic analysis was performed to reassess <br />system demands and confirm the need for pump upsizing, ensuring the station could <br />efficiently accommodate varying flow and pressure conditions within the collection <br />system. <br />The rehabilitated station was designed with a four-pump configuration consisting of two <br />30-horsepower and two 10-horsepower submersible pumps. This arrangement allows <br />the station to operate across a wide range of system curves without the use of variable <br />frequency drives, in accordance with the City’s operational preferences. All mechanical, <br />piping, and valve components within the station were replaced to provide a fully <br />modernized and robust pumping system. <br />Given the severely corroded condition of the existing wet well and valve vault, specialized <br />structural engineering expertise was incorporated to develop a concrete rehabilitation <br />program. This included surface restoration, protective lining systems, and structural <br />repairs to address deterioration and ensure long-term durability in a corrosive wastewater <br />environment. <br />In addition to the station rehabilitation, the project included relocation of existing <br />gravity sewer infrastructure and the design of a new discharge force main to integrate <br />the upgraded station into the surrounding system.
