His background spans
mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, providing him with a
multidisciplinary perspective essential for integrated design and coordination.
Mr. Valderrama’s expertise includes HVAC and plumbing system design,
building code compliance, construction administration, and life-cycle cost
optimization for public facilities. He has led mechanical and plumbing
engineering for major airport, municipal, and utility projects across South
Florida and the Caribbean, providing technical leadership and client
coordination to deliver compliant and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Project Experience

WASD, 36th Street Maintenance Facility Modernization, Miami, FL. (2024 –
Ongoing) – Mechanical Engineer for the modernization and expansion of the
WASD 36th Street Maintenance Facility. Responsibilities include evaluation of
existing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, development of design
criteria, and preparation of technical recommendations for facility
improvements, supporting assessment and conceptual design phases by
identifying ventilation, water, and sanitary system upgrades in compliance
with current Florida Building Code, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.

WASD, Westwood Lakes Electrical Room HVAC Improvements, Miami, FL.
(2024 – Ongoing) – Provided HVAC design services for the new electrical room
at the Westwood Lakes Maintenance Facility as part of the electrical
distribution upgrades, including development of design criteria, HVAC
calculations, and plans for a fully redundant (N+1) water-cooled system. The
design incorporated roof-mounted mechanical units with hurricane protection
and recirculating air filtration systems in accordance with PURAFIL standards
and coordinated with the prime consultant to ensure adherence to WASD
standards, FBC mechanical requirements, and flood protection measures.

Randal “Doc” James Racetrack Reconstruction, St. Croix, USVI. (2023 – 2026)
– Senior Project Engineer responsible for HVAC system modeling, load
analysis, and design coordination for the full reconstruction of the Randal
“Doc” James Racetrack complex, including a new casino building, grandstands,
horse stalls, and ancillary facilities. Design emphasized energy efficiency,
humidity control, and mechanical resilience in a tropical marine environment,
ensuring proper ventilation, thermal comfort, and compliance with local
building codes and NFPA standards for all occupied and animal-support
structures.
