The addition of the left turn lanes and intersection improvements
greatly increased the functionality and traffic flow through the heavily used corridor. While
the new planting of shade trees, flowering trees, and palms along with colorful new ground
covers significantly improved the aesthetic quality of the roadway, and added utilize plan
reviewers, to the wooded character of the surrounding neighborhoods.
CGA staff prepared surveys, traffic studies, conceptual designs, final design plans, cost
estimates, construction drawings, and bid documents for the project. One of the biggest
challenges that the design team had to overcome was providing enough drainage for the
new improvements and expansion of the roadway in some areas within a very small R.O.W.
area. The CGA team came up with a solution that combined 75 new structures and piping,
with over 2,500 LF of exfiltration trench and the regrading of all the existing swale areas to
achieve the drainage capacity that was needed for the project. This drainage design was
then permitted through four different local agencies.
NOVA DRIVE COMPLETE STREETS
IMPROVEMENTS
Davie, FL
