Providing coastal engineering services to support <br />Miami-Dade County’s beach nourishment program, addressing shoreline <br />erosional hotspots and long-term shoreline performance. Performs analysis <br />of topographic and hydrographic survey data, volumetric and shoreline <br />change assessments, and profile-based comparisons. Prepares engineering <br />reports in compliance with FDEP Joint Coastal Permit requirements, <br />supporting shoreline management decisions, regulatory compliance, and <br />future renourishment planning. The project is ongoing, supporting the County <br />in multiple monitoring programs. <br />Miami-Dade County Shore Protection Project, USACE, Miami-Dade County, <br />Florida. Coastal engineer for federal Miami Dade County beaches, assisted <br />in the design of multiple truck haul beach nourishment projects. Conducted <br />feasibility analysis using the cross shore change model CSHORE and the <br />planning model Beach-fx as part of the Miami Dade County Feasibility study. <br />Categorized sediment movement throughout the county and recommended <br />future nourishment plans based on the study’s findings.* <br />Southeast Florida Sediment Morphodynamics Study, USACE, Southeast, <br />Florida. Served as the engineering technical lead on a Regional Sediment <br />Management study evaluating sediment movement along the Southeast <br />Florida coast. This multi-pronged study involved metocean observations, <br />sediment tracers, and numerical modeling across three distinct areas: <br />Lake Worth Inlet, addressing chronic shoaling; Port Everglades, focusing on <br />upcoming dredging and sedimentation concerns; and Miami Dade County, <br />dealing with limited sand resources and recurring beach nourishment needs. <br />Developed revised sediment budgets for the coast, soon to be published in the <br />Journal of Coastal Research. Collaborated with contractors to conceptualize <br />hydrodynamics and sediment transport based on metocean observations <br />and sediment tracers.* <br />ANDREW “DREW” CONDON, PhD, PE <br />Senior Coastal Engineer <br />Drew is a senior coastal and navigation engineer with over 16 years of <br />experience leading planning, analysis, and design efforts across the Southeast <br />United States, Caribbean, and South America. A former USACE engineer <br />with experience in the Jacksonville District, Naval Research Laboratory, <br />and USACE Engineer Research and Development Center, he brings a strong <br />foundation in both applied research and project execution. Drew specializes <br />in navigation design, coastal structures, ship simulation, dredging, and <br />coastal resiliency, including flood risk and sea level rise assessments. He <br />develops advanced numerical models to evaluate hydrodynamics, sediment <br />transport, and water quality, delivering innovative, sustainable solutions for <br />complex coastal challenges. Known for his technical leadership and project <br />management expertise, Drew consistently delivers resilient, high-quality <br />infrastructure that protects communities and ecosystems.
