Copilot said: Matthew Trammell, PE, is a coastal engineer with more than
21 years of experience managing shoreline protection, coastal resilience,
marine infrastructure, and beach restoration projects throughout Florida and
the southeastern United States. His expertise includes coastal engineering
design, numerical modeling, beach nourishment, dredging, shoreline
stabilization, living shorelines, environmental permitting, and construction
administration. Matthew leads multidisciplinary teams through all phases
of project delivery from planning and feasibility studies through permitting,
design, bidding, construction oversight, and post-construction monitoring
and has extensive experience supporting municipalities, counties, state
agencies, and waterfront clients on complex coastal and marine projects.
RELEVANT PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Vanderbilt Marina Expansion, Fisher Island, Miami Dade County, Florida.
Served as Lead Engineer for a multi phase marina expansion project involving
reconfiguration and expansion of an existing private marina to accommodate
additional slips, dredging, and shoreline protection infrastructure. Led
coordination of multidisciplinary teams performing marine resource and
benthic surveys, bathymetric and geotechnical investigations, advanced
numerical modeling (hydrodynamic, wave, flushing, hurricane, and sea level
rise), and permit level coastal and marine engineering design. Supported
complex regulatory coordination and permitting with FDEP, USACE, Miami
Dade County, and other agencies, including development of mitigation
strategies, UMAM analyses, coral relocation planning, and advancement of
the project to approximately 60% design to support environmental review and
future construction.
FDEP Statewide Coastal Engineering Continuing Services, Statewide,
Florida. Provided statewide coastal and marine engineering services under
an FDEP continuing services contract supporting shoreline protection,
beach nourishment, living shorelines, marina infrastructure, and waterfront
park resilience projects across Florida. Led and supported multidisciplinary
efforts including coastal process analyses, numerical modeling, seawall and
revetment design, living shoreline implementation, environmental permitting
coordination, and construction administration for state parks, municipal
shorelines, and navigation adjacent facilities. Delivered resilient, permit
ready engineering solutions addressing sea level rise, tidal flooding, storm
surge, and erosion while coordinating closely with FDEP staff and regulatory
agencies to ensure compliance and timely project delivery.
Beach Restoration Design and Permitting, Bid and Construction
Administration, and Post-construction Monitoring Services, Various
Locations, Florida. Work included beach and borrow area design, numerical
wave and sediment transport modeling of various alternatives, geotechnical
investigations and analyses, sand compatibility analyses, environmental
impact analyses, local, state, and federal agency permitting and coordination;
development of project plans and specifications, conducting public workshops,
and providing expert witness testimony on multiple occasions. Assisted various
government entities with bid administration and construction observation of
