<br />Miami Shores Bayfront Park, Miami Shores, Florida. Responsible for providing oversight for field investigations and
<br />permitting with DERM, FDEP and USACE for replacement of 880 LF of bulkhead at a public park. DERM, FDEP, and
<br />USACE permitting is underway.
<br />FDOT D6 Seven Mile Bridge, Marathon, Florida. Project manager and field lead for a qualitative benthic survey
<br />as part of the Seven Mile Bridge FDOT D6 PD&E study. The survey involved conducting a series of bounce dives
<br />within two proposed bridge reconstruction alignments. Pre-survey analysis included remote sensing characterization
<br />using satellite-derived seafloor classification to select ground-truth sites. Post-survey analysis involved modifications
<br />to the seafloor classification. An Environmental Survey Report was prepared. Currently under contract to conduct a
<br />quantitative survey to assess impacts.
<br />Sawfish Bay Park Shoreline Improvements, Jupiter, Florida. Responsible for permitting and marine resource surveying
<br />for a multi-phased project to environmentally restore a historic marina basin and protect the shoreline of a municipal
<br />park. The project includes caping sand for seagrass recruitment, living shoreline, rock revetment, and reef ball units in
<br />configurations that will accomplish the Town of Jupiter’s goals of increasing coastal resiliency and enhancing natural
<br />habitat, while minimizing design and permitting costs. USACE and FDEP permits secured for Phases 1 and 2.
<br />Bentley Bay Marina Permitting, Miami Beach, Florida. Project manager responsible for marine resource surveying and
<br />environmental permitting involving extensive project team and agency coordination relative to sovereign submerged
<br />lands use, consistency with the Miami-Dade County Manatee Protection Plan, and avoidance and minimization
<br />of impacts to marine resources. Performed three marine resource surveys to document the marine resources of
<br />significance following the NMFS protocol for surveying Johnson’s Seagrass and Acropora spp. Extensive sovereign
<br />submerged lands research required relative to historical mooring and Butler Act Disclaimer to secure sovereign
<br />submerged lands authorization via a new lease in the BBAP. Environmental permits were secured from the USACE,
<br />FDEP, and DERM. Continued environmental and engineering support.
<br />Currie Park Redevelopment, City of West Palm Beach, Florida. Currie Park is a 16-acre public waterfront park. The city
<br />is preparing an adaptive redesign of the park to mitigate flooding from rainfall, king tides, and sea level rise. Project
<br />manager responsible for the coastal components (e.g. rock revetment, living shoreline, boat ramp improvements, kayak
<br />launches, new over water piers and boardwalks, and “social” steps down to the water) of the project’s master plan
<br />including but not limited to permitting feasibility, concept planning, marina implementation strategy, public outreach
<br />interpretation and grant funding options master plan completed 2021. Currently, project manager responsible for
<br />fieldwork, engineering, permitting, and grant management to implement the master plan. State permits secured and
<br />federal permit underway. Additionally, assisted with securing a DEO grant which was awarded to the project in the
<br />amount of $16M.
<br />City of West Palm Beach Pilot Seawall Elevation Project, West Palm Beach, Florida. The Pilot Project includes
<br />replacement of ~ 1,700 LF of seawall at a higher elevation and adding living shoreline components to support the
<br />City’s efforts to provide additional protection to upland infrastructure to reduce flooding from sea level rise, storm surge,
<br />and wave overtopping. As co-project manager and senior environmental oversight responsible for public outreach,
<br />environmental feasibility, concept design, marine resource surveying, and environmental permitting.
<br />Baker’s Haulover Inlet Benthic Mapping and EFH Assessment, Haulover Inlet, Florida. The USACE is proposing to
<br />dredge the Baker’s Haulover Inlet ebb shoal and place the material on the Town of Bal Harbor shoreline. Marine biologist
<br />for large-scale habitat mapping and characterization study of seagrass, macroalgae and hardbottom communities to
<br />support permitting and NEPA efforts, as well as future monitoring design. Also provided ESA Section 7 consultation
<br />support and Essential Fish Habitat Assessment.
<br />Matheson Hammock Boardwalk Permitting, Miami-Dade County, Florida. This project involves the construction of
<br />a new boardwalk along a mangrove trail within Matheson Hammock Park involving mangrove trimming and some
<br />wetland impacts. Performed a wetland delineation, design development, permitting, and mitigation planning and
<br />calculations for the newly proposed boardwalk. Coordination with USACE, FDEP, DERM, NFC and EEL is underway.
