Services: <br />References: <br />Start Date: <br />Completion Date: <br />Project Budget: <br />C+R Contract Fees: <br />Fort Lauderdale, FL <br />Holiday Park Playground & Splash Pad <br />Curtis + Rogers was retained by the City of Fort Lauderdale to provide design <br />services for park improvements at Holiday Park. The design for the park, <br />which included a signature playground and interactive water feature, started <br />in 2022 and is set for phase 2 to be completed in 2027. The concept for the <br />playground and interactive water feature was Wild Florida showcasing the <br />transition between South Florida ecology moving from the Everglades to the <br />springs within the playground, and finally into the ocean at the interactive <br />water feature. This concept was centered around the idea of fostering an <br />appreciation for nature while encouraging adventure play for the children <br />who enjoy the space. The design features iconic, custom-fabricated elements <br />such as Tree Top Towers, evoking the Everglades’ cypress canopy, and a <br />sculptural Alligator Climber, which has become the visual and thematic focal <br />point of the playground. The layout, which is tightly integrated with the site’s <br />constraints, was configured to maximize play value within a limited space <br />while maintaining clear visual storytelling tied to the Wild Florida theme. The <br />playground design incorporates tree house themes with elevated walkways, <br />sensory experiences including visual (light & shade), tactile (textural variety) <br />and auditory elements, as well as topographic changes and pockets with our <br />native flora and fauna.
