<br />Kevin Ang is a Senior Waterfront Engineer/Project Manager at GEI. He is a structural engineer
<br />with over 12 years of professional experience spanning multiple disciplines within the
<br />engineering industry. Kevin’s experience includes waterfront and marine design, bridge
<br />design, building design and the management of interdisciplinary project teams. Kevin
<br />has comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, design standards, and building
<br />codes. He has also demonstrated an exceptional ability to deliver projects with condensed
<br />schedules and challenging criteria.
<br />PROJECT EXPERIENCE
<br />Final Assembly 2, Austal, Mobile, AL. As the Waterfront Structural Lead, provide marine
<br />engineering, value engineering, assistant project management, and bid support services for
<br />the construction of a new final assembly ship facility. Kevin is leading all the design efforts
<br />for the waterfront structures; ship lift piers, transfer bridge, bulkhead, relieving platform
<br />as well as the upland structural elements; apron, cradle, and building slabs/foundations.
<br />Additionally, Kevin coordinates tasks, schedules, and inter-disciplinary items within GEI’s
<br />design team as well as externally with subconsultants and the client. Kevin is currently
<br />leading a team of seven people in the design providing guidance, coordinating design tasks,
<br />and reviewing all calculations and bid documents.
<br />Davie Shipyard Modernization, Lévis, QC, Canada. As the Waterfront Structural Lead,
<br />provide marine engineering, value engineering, assistant project management, and bid
<br />support services for the modernization of an existing ship building facility. The scope
<br />for this project includes the construction of a new vessel launch pad and several new
<br />ship assembly buildings. Additionally, significant upland improvements to support the
<br />operations and workflow of the facility are being done. Kevin is leading all the design efforts
<br />for the waterfront structures; launch pad and bulkhead. Additionally, Kevin is leading the
<br />design efforts for the new building slabs and foundations. Lastly, Kevin coordinates tasks,
<br />schedules, and inter-disciplinary items within GEI’s design team as well as externally with
<br />subconsultants and the client. Kevin is currently leading a team of three people in the
<br />design providing guidance, coordinating design tasks, and reviewing all calculations and bid
<br />documents.
<br />Lawrence High School Seawall Design, Lawrence Union Free School District,
<br />Cedarhurst, NY. As the Project Engineer and Lead Designer, provided marine engineering,
<br />bid support, and construction administration services for the construction of a new seawall
<br />around the perimeter of the high school property to protect the school from future storms.
<br />Finalized the design of the seawall which is comprised of steel sheet pile and a concrete
<br />seawall integral with the steel sheet pile. In addition to preventing flood overflow over the
<br />concrete seawall, the steel sheet pile extends well below finished grade to prevent seepage
<br />underneath the concrete seawall. The seawall was designed for a 500-yr water level and wave
<br />heights along with the projected sea-level rise in the coming 100 years. Coordinated concrete
<br />pump house design with the new drainage system for the high school. Answered questions
<br />during the bid phase and will provide construction administration when construction begins.
<br />This includes regular site visits to ensure installation of steel sheet pile and concrete follows
<br />the bid documents, review submittals, and providing solutions to unforeseen conditions.
<br />East Beach Bluff Stabilization, Village of Port Jefferson, Port Jefferson, NY. As the Project
<br />Engineer and Lead Designer, provided marine engineering, bid support, and construction
<br />administration services for the construction of two bulkhead walls to stabilize a 100 ft tall
<br />bluff at the Waterview Clubhouse. The bluff stabilization is occurring in two phases. Phase
<br />1 involves the construction of a bulkhead wall at the toe of the bluff, re-grading the bluff
<br />to restore the bluff slope, and installation of slope stabilizing plantings and plant terraces.
<br />Phase 2 will involve the construction of a new bulkhead wall at the crest of the bluff to protect
<br />the existing clubhouse building from undermining and further erosion of the bluff. Provided
