<br />construction support and administration services for phase I
<br />including submittal review, site visits to ensure construction
<br />follows bid documents, and providing solutions to in-field
<br />conditions. Finalized the design and bid documents for phase
<br />II and will provide the same services as phase I during the bid
<br />and construction phase.
<br />New Training Ship (NSMV) Pier Upgrades, State University
<br />Construction Fund (SUCF SUNY), Throggs Neck, NY. As
<br />the Project Engineer and Lead Designer, provided marine
<br />engineering services associated with the upgrade and
<br />rehabilitation of the existing Olivet Pier at SUNY Maritime in
<br />order to support the berthing, mooring, and upgraded utility
<br />services for the new NSMV training ship. Involved with initial
<br />site investigations, permitting applications/documents, design
<br />development from concept to construction documents,
<br />and provided bid and construction phase services. Small
<br />portions of the existing pier are to be removed and replaced
<br />with new mooring and berthing dolphins. These dolphins are
<br />designed to be structurally separate from the existing pier. The
<br />dolphins are comprised of large diameter steel pipe piles and
<br />concrete caps with mooring bollards as well as super cone
<br />fenders with panels. Additionally, the rest of the existing pier
<br />is to be rehabilitated including concrete pile encasements
<br />for deteriorated piles, top deck and underdeck repairs.
<br />Lastly, utility services for the new NSMV training ship had to
<br />be coordinated with the ship builder, SUCF SUNY, the MEP
<br />engineer, and all the upgrades/repairs. All of the stated work
<br />was submitted and approved by the required environmental
<br />agencies; New York State Department of Environmental
<br />Conservation (NYSDEC) and United States Army Corps of
<br />Engineers (USACE). As the Project Engineer, prepared all
<br />required cut/fill calculations, project narrative, applications,
<br />and documents. This work was completed on an expediated
<br />schedule to meet the proposed launching date of the new
<br />ship.
<br />East River Esplanade Reconstruction, NYC Parks (NYCDPR),
<br />Manhattan, NY. Project Engineer and Lead Designer for the
<br />reconstruction of existing low-level platforms, bulkheads, and
<br />waterfront infrastructure supporting the East River Esplanade
<br />along the East River in Manhattan, NY. The new platform is a
<br />high-level platform comprised of prestressed precast concrete
<br />planks founded on rock socketed steel pipe piles. Due to the
<br />platform construction changing from a low-level to high-level
<br />structure, a new concrete bulkhead is required to maintain
<br />adjacent grade and support of the FDR roadway. The proximity
<br />of the FDR required extensive coordination with design,
<br />construction feasibility, lane closures and the NYCDOT. Lastly,
<br />the top side aesthetic and grading required coordination
<br />between the NYCDPR, Landscape Architect, Civil Engineer,
<br />and the PDC. All the stated work was submitted and approved
<br />by the required environmental agencies; New York State
<br />Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and
<br />United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). As the Project
<br />Engineer, prepared all required cut/fill calculations, project
<br />narrative, applications, and documents.
<br />Homeport II, NYC Economic Development Corporation
<br />(NYCEDC), Manhattan, NY. Project Engineer and Lead
<br />Designer for the construction of a new homeport facility for
<br />the NYC ferry fleet. The homeport would provide a facility
<br />for the ferries to port and moor overnight, refuel, hook up to
<br />upland water and electricity, and maintenance. The homeport
<br />comprised of approximately 25 slips; about 21 slips were
<br />comprised of large monopiles with donut fenders and mooring
<br />rings and the remaining 4 slips comprised of floating docks.
<br />Additionally, two piers were designed to support a large
<br />travel lift that would lift the ferries out of the water for more
<br />extensive maintenance and cleaning. Involved in the design of
<br />the entire facility; utility platform and elevated maintenance
<br />walkway, monopiles at all slips, and the travel lift pier
<br />substructure/superstructure. Coordinated all utility, civil, and
<br />architectural requirements between multiple consultants with
<br />the marine structural scope. All the stated work was submitted
<br />and approved by the required environmental agencies;
<br />New York State Department of Environmental Conservation
<br />(NYSDEC) and United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
