<br />flood wall into the proposed construction. Provided Quality
<br />Assurance oversight during the construction of the cutoff
<br />wall, including a review of construction records related to the
<br />cutoff wall, instrumentation installation and performance, and
<br />compliance related to the design documents and criteria.
<br />District Wharf DC Phase 2, SW Washington, DC: Served
<br />as the Engineer of Record for a combined geotechnical and
<br />environmental investigation program for the construction of
<br />five new commercial and residential buildings. The proposed
<br />development includes a combined below grade parking
<br />structure located directly adjacent to the Washington Channel
<br />waterway and crosses over the WMATA Green Line Metro
<br />Tunnel. The parking structure was designed using a combined
<br />system of Rigid Inclusions and shallow foundations. Oversaw a
<br />comprehensive geotechnical in-situ investigation program on
<br />the land and in the water to provide design recommendations
<br />for a new bulkhead, several fixed and floating pier structures,
<br />and the proposed building. Performed a detailed numerical
<br />impact assessment to assess the impact of the proposed
<br />structure and excavation on the tunnels. Performed the design
<br />of the cutoff wall and support of excavation system for a
<br />multilevel below-grade parking structures adjacent to and above
<br />the WMATA tunnel and adjacent to the Washington Channel.
<br />Served as the Engineer of Record for the support of excavation
<br />(SOE) system for the portions of the structure adjacent to the
<br />WMATA ZOI. Oversaw a detailed numerical analysis of an existing
<br />DCWater Sewer running through the site to assess the impacts
<br />of the proposed excavation and development on the critical
<br />sewer and a subsequent jet grout support system to minimize
<br />movement during the construction. Serving as the Engineer
<br />of Record for a comprehensive monitoring system inside
<br />the WMATA tunnel, within the WMATA ZOI, and on adjacent
<br />structures and components of the SOE system.
<br />Wolf Creek Dam, Jamestown, KY: Served as GEI’s technical
<br />lead, Senior Project Manager, and Engineer of Record for a large
<br />investigative drilling and grouting project in limestone and
<br />dolomite karst geology. Responsible for technical proposal,
<br />cost and budget analyses, management of large contingency
<br />of field staff, and implementation of a rigorous quality control
<br />system established by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
<br />(USACE). Technical work involved an exploration and testing
<br />program, including unconfined compression testing, pressure
<br />and water testing, including packer and hydrojack testing,
<br />detailed geologic mapping, including discontinuities, fracture
<br />and bedding plane discontinuities using ISM criteria, installation
<br />of instrumentation, and upstage and downstage grouting for
<br />the assessment of the feasibility of karst seepage and a cutoff
<br />wall system. Wolf Creek Dam was defined by the USACE as a
<br />Megaproject and as the top priority of any of the high hazard
<br />dams in the United States prior to the remedial work.
<br />McMillan Reservoir Redevelopment, Washington, DC: Served
<br />as Engineer of Record for the design of excavation support
<br />system for a large development project on the site of a historical
<br />reservoir. Oversaw design of a soldier pile and lagging support
<br />of excavation wall and a detailed bracing system for excavation
<br />purposes adjacent to sensitive elements associated with
<br />the existing water distribution system. Designs incorporated
<br />construction considerations for the demolition of historical
<br />unreinforced concrete filter structures and the preservation of
<br />above and below grade water retention structures, sand filters,
<br />and storm water management structures.
<br />Ft. McNair Seawall Repair, Ft. McNair, SW Washington,
<br />DC: Served as the Engineer of Record for geotechnical and
<br />geostructural design of a timber pile foundation system for the
<br />rehabilitation of a failed section of an existing sea wall. The
<br />design work included a preconstruction exploration program,
<br />an assessment of an existing timber pile foundation system,
<br />and the design of a new timber pile and cap support system.
<br />Work involved the development of field investigation program,
<br />the oversight of design and the preparation of design packages,
<br />and the preparation of construction documents for bidding and
<br />implementation. All work was reviewed and approved by the
<br />U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
<br />DC Clean Rivers CSO Project Division Z – South Capitol
<br />Street MOS, DC, and Pump Station, Washington, DC:
<br />Served as Engineer of Record for a sheet pile, soil nail, and
<br />soldier pile and lagging support of excavation system for
<br />construction of an outfall, diversion chamber, and pump
<br />stations. Design responsibilities included the oversight of all
<br />design work for deep sheet pile walls and internal bracing
<br />systems. Responsibilities also included the design oversight of
<br />sinking caissons, ground improvement for tunneling access and
<br />retrieval shafts. Also served as the Instrumentation Engineer
<br />of Record for the installation, data collection, and reporting
<br />of instrumentation, as well as the generation of construction
<br />impact assessments of critical existing utilities and structures.
<br />Blue Plains Wastewater Treatment Plant Enhanced Nitrogen
<br />Removal Facilities – Contract 2, Washington, DC: Senior
<br />Project Manager for design of excavation support for proposed
<br />influent tunnel access shafts. The system consisted of braced jet
<br />grout walls through sand and a soil nail walls in clay. Oversaw
<br />the construction of all design calculations for jet grout walls,
<br />bracing and soil nail walls.
