<br />SUITABILITY OF METHODOLOGIES AND APPROACHES FOR ACHIEVING ASSIGNED TASKS
<br />Understanding Project Needs and Objectives: GEI’s methodology for delivering environmental, coastal, and marine
<br />engineering services is founded on collaboration, technical excellence, responsiveness, and practical implementation. We
<br />recognize that each assignment for the City of Sunny Isles Beach presents unique operational, environmental, regulatory, and
<br />budgetary considerations. Our approach begins with understanding project objectives, site constraints, permitting requirements,
<br />stakeholder needs, and long-term asset performance goals to develop solutions that are technically sound, cost-eff ective, and
<br />aligned with the City’s priorities.
<br />Structured Delivery Process: For each task assignment, GEI follows a structured process that includes site assessment, planning
<br />and feasibility evaluation, alternatives analysis, permitting and regulatory coordination, design development, construction

<br />and private owners with responsive, multidisciplinary engineering services. Our multidisciplinary team includes coastal
<br />engineers, environmental scientists, marine structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, hydrographic surveyors, ecologists,
<br />and permitting specialists who work together to address both engineering and environmental considerations. This integrated
<br />approach is particularly valuable in coastal communities such as Sunny Isles Beach, where resiliency, environmental stewardship,
<br />regulatory compliance, and public safety are closely connected.
<br />Responsive Support and Rapid Problem Resolution: A key component of our methodology is proactive communication
<br />and rapid response. Marine infrastructure challenges can arise unexpectedly due to storm events, shoreline erosion, structural

<br />capital and maintenance expenditures over time.
<br />Permitting and Regulatory Coordination: Equally important is our permitting and environmental compliance strategy. GEI
<br />routinely coordinates with agencies including FDEP, DERM, USACE, and other regulatory authorities to streamline reviews and
<br />reduce potential project delays. By incorporating permitting requirements early in project development, we help avoid redesigns,
<br />expedite approvals, and maintain project momentum.
<br />Experience with Federally Authorized Shore Protection Projects: The GEI Project Team has extensive experience delivering
<br />services to municipalities with shorelines that fall under a federally authorized shore protection project. GEI’s Project Manager
<br />was responsible for unifying the entirety of DERM’s managed shoreline from monument R-7 to R-74 under a singular permit
<br />authorization. This large beach design and permitting eff ort allowed for flexibility in upland sand sourcing and enabled the County
<br />to respond quickly to emergency truck-haul nourishment events triggered by passing storms. This eff ort required extensive
<br />coordination with the USACE regulatory team to confirm compliance with the Miami-Dade County Beach Erosion Control and
<br />Hurricane Protection Project.
<br />Emergency Coastal Response and Recovery Services: Additionally, the GEI
<br />Project Team has delivered numerous FEMA emergency berm nourishment
<br />projects aft er a federally declared storm event. This experience well positions
<br />GEI to assist Sunny Isles and respond quickly to any coastal management emergency event.
