GEI Consultants | City of Sunny Isles Beach | RFQ 26-07-01 42 <br />Conley Terminal Modernization <br />Continued from previous page <br />toe stabilization wall at the face of the berth, complete <br />fender replacement at Berths 11 and 12, installation of a <br />new inshore bulkhead, replacement of 300 timber piles, <br />construction of six lateral load resistance platforms, <br />concrete surface repairs and dredging to 50 foot depth <br />including rock removal. <br />GEI is currently leading a team to plan, design, and <br />implement the construction of the new terminal gate <br />processing facilities at Conley Terminal to allow more <br />eff icient processing of container traff ic and increase the <br />capacity of the terminal. The new gate facilities are a key <br />component of the terminal masterplan and GEI lead the <br />multi consultant team to design and construct the project. <br />The project includes the new gate facilities and repair of the <br />severely deteriorated bulkheads along Berths 16 and 17. <br />Repair of the bulkheads was essential to provide a stable <br />foundation and allow construction of the new in-gate on this <br />underutilized portion of the terminal. Due to the significant <br />diff erence in type of construction and to enable earlier <br />construction start, the project was divided into a number of <br />phases - the first phase was rehabilitation of the bulkheads <br />at Berths 16 and 17, the second phase was construction <br />of the infrastructure for the gate complexes and the third <br />phase will focus on procurement and installation of the <br />gate equipment. <br />GEI provided above and underwater structural assessments <br />(timber piles, concrete deck, and timber bulkhead), <br />geotechnical investigation, project management, and <br />design.
