GEI Consultants | City of Sunny Isles Beach | RFQ 26-07-01 50 <br />Design and Engineering Services for the Final Assembly 2 Site <br />Mobile, Alabama | Austal USA <br />GEI provided design and engineering services for the new Final Assembly 2 <br />(FA2) site at the Austal USA shipyard in Mobile. <br />This expansion project will incorporate an approximately 12-acre parcel into Austal’s existing <br />shipyard facility, adding a new three-bay ship assembly hall (Bays 7, 8, and 9) and a new <br />waterfront shiplift complex. <br />Upland site improvements include a heavy load platform with adequate capacity to support <br />the operation of Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) units, and a new 200,000-square- <br />foot metal frame building. Waterfront improvements will include a new steel bulkhead and <br />two pile-supported structures for the operation of a new Pearlson Shiplift system measuring <br />approximately 470 feet by 110 feet.
