GEI Consultants | City of Sunny Isles Beach | RFQ 26-07-01 56 DATES 2021-Ongoing CLIENT REFERENCE ED PARRISH, PE Engineering Department Town of Huntington 631.351.3151 KEY ELEMENTS • Assessment and Feasibility Study • Permitting and Regulatory Coordination • Coastal Engineering • Bulkhead Repair Design • Construction Phase Services Woodbine Marina is located on the North Shore of Long Island in the Village of Northport, with a berth capacity of approximately 46 slips and a range of services that complement dockage, including shore power, ship-to-shore water, and a pump-out station. The marina has historically provided access to shopping and restaurants in the Village, along with off -street parking and a comfort station; however, operation of the facility ceased due to concerns over structural integrity. Since commencing work in December 2021, GEI has successfully operated as the prime consultant to obtain all regulatory permits to replace the existing structure with a “build in-front” composite wall that will substantially reduce maintenance costs and prolong the serviceable life of the facility. The project is currently progressing into final design and contractor solicitation. The success of this project has thus far relied upon two key factors: (1) recognizing Woodbine Marina as a social and economic driver for the Village of Northport; and (2) tailoring our approach to meet the design intent through active partnering with the Town of Huntington. Construction is scheduled for the fall of 2025 or spring of 2026. Key challenges have included: • Permitting in an environmentally sensitive area, expedited to obtain permits in time for the next boating season • Actively involving and coordinating with representatives from the Town of Huntington • Acquiring detailed information to prepare accurate estimates for the permitting and design of bulkhead repairs/replacement Woodbine Marina Bulkhead Reconstruction Town of Huntington | Northport, NY
