City of Sunny Isles Beach Continuing Services Contract, Sunny Isles Beach, FL:
<br />Principal. Provides planning leadership and strategic advisory services under the
<br />City’s continuing services contract. Supports multidisciplinary assignments involving
<br />long-range planning, resiliency initiatives, redevelopment planning, grant-funded
<br />programs, community enhancement projects, and capital improvement initiatives.
<br />Responsibilities include stakeholder engagement, entitlement and development
<br />review, policy analysis, resilience planning, interagency coordination, and integration
<br />of planning recommendations with engineering, transportation, landscape
<br />architecture, and municipal infrastructure projects. Representative assignments
<br />include the Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Plan, Bella Vista Park, Town
<br />Center Park, Intracoastal Park, and other City improvement initiatives.
<br />City of Fort Lauderdale Cemetery Master Plan, Fort Lauderdale, FL: Principal.
<br />Led development of a master plan for four municipal cemeteries ranging from
<br />approximately 5 to 50 acres. Responsibilities included facility inventory, future needs
<br />analysis, stakeholder engagement, implementation strategies, and development of
<br />recommendations unanimously approved by the City.
<br />Broward County Convention Center Master Plan, Fort Lauderdale, FL: Principal.
<br />Provided planning support for the Broward County Convention Center expansion and
<br />associated development initiatives. Responsibilities included entitlement reviews,
<br />DRI analysis, land use planning, parking evaluations, development scheduling, and
<br />coordination with multiple regulatory agencies.
<br />City of Miami Planning and Urban Design, Miami, FL: Task Manager. Provides
<br />strategic planning and urban design support under the City’s continuing services
<br />program. Responsibilities include development review, entitlement analysis, growth
<br />management evaluations, and analytical support for Downtown Miami and Southeast
<br />Overtown/Park West development initiatives.
<br />City of Oakland Park General Planning Services, Oakland Park, FL: Principal. Provides
<br />comprehensive planning services including long-range planning, code analysis,
<br />redevelopment planning, sustainability initiatives, resiliency planning, urban design,
<br />placemaking, development review, community engagement, and grant support.
<br />Wilton Manors Land Use Study, Wilton Manors, FL: Principal. Led a corridor land use
<br />study evaluating development patterns, transportation conditions, zoning regulations,
<br />and redevelopment opportunities. The project included stakeholder outreach, land
<br />use analysis, and recommendations supporting Complete Streets improvements,
<br />mixed-use development, and transit-oriented planning.

<br />Planning Lead
<br />Mike Vonder Meulen, AICP, will serve as Planning Lead for the City of Sunny Isles
<br />Beach. Mike brings extensive experience in comprehensive planning, land use
<br />planning, redevelopment planning, urban design, master planning, zoning,
<br />community engagement, and long-range policy development. He has guided
<br />municipalities, counties, and public agencies through comprehensive planning
<br />initiatives, development review, entitlement analysis, resiliency planning, and
<br />redevelopment strategies. Mike works closely with elected officials, advisory boards,
<br />stakeholders, and community members to develop practical planning solutions that
<br />support economic vitality, community character, sustainability, and growth.
