<br />Ronald Reagan Park (Fern Isle), Miami, FL
<br />Through a Professional Service Agreement with the City of Miami for
<br />Miscellaneous Landscape Architecture Services, Kimley-Horn provided landscape
<br />architecture and civil engineering services from concept through construction
<br />administration for Ronald Reagan Park (formerly known as PBA Fern Isle Park).
<br />Ronald Reagan Park is a six-acre riverfront passive park with amenities such as a
<br />multi-use lawn area, play landforms, large picnic shelters, outdoor exercise area,
<br />walking paths, parking/drop-off area, a historic pedestrian bridge with hanging
<br />chairs, a waterfront promenade, and wayfinding and historical signage.
<br />Due to the park’s location adjacent to a branch of the Miami River, the landscape
<br />plant palette consists mainly of trees, palms, shrubs, and ground covers that were
<br />prevalent along the shores of the Miami River prior to the development of the City
<br />of Miami. During the design process, the placement of the proposed park amenities revolved around the preservation of
<br />numerous large canopy trees, including a large forest of Southern Live Oaks, that contribute to this park’s unique sense
<br />of place.
<br />Woodside Park, Miami, FL
<br />Kimley-Horn’s landscape architecture expertise is exemplified in the Woodside Park Project, undertaken for the City of
<br />Miami. For this transformative community space, Kimley-Horn led a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive
<br />design and engineering services for Phase 2 of the park, including landscape architecture, civil, electrical, MEP,
<br />structural, geotechnical, surveying, and certified arborist services. The project features a thoughtfully designed one-
<br />story, 1,500-square-foot community center, two pickleball courts, hardscape and landscape improvements, on-site
<br />parking, a precast concrete fence, irrigation system, and site lighting. Kimley-Horn’s landscape architects developed a
<br />preliminary hardscape plan and schedule of materials, a detailed tree inventory and disposition plan, and a schematic-
<br />level planting design that enhances the park’s character and supports vibrant outdoor use. Plant selections were
<br />carefully coordinated to meet Miami-Dade County’s landscape requirements, emphasizing visual appeal, sustainability,
<br />and ease of maintenance. The team also prepared site furniture plans and irrigation details, and coordinated with City
<br />staff through multiple design and construction phases, confirming that every element reflects the highest standards of
<br />quality and functionality. Kimley-Horn’s collaborative approach, technical rigor, and commitment to client goals are
<br />evident throughout the Woodside Park project, demonstrating the firm’s ability to create inviting, resilient, and
<br />community-focused landscapes that enrich urban environments.
