40IWFLFTLD016838.2026
ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING CONSULTING SERVICES
(CCNA) RFQ # 26-07-01
CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL
MECHANICAL, ENGINEERING, AND PLUMBING ENGINEERING
Straz Performing Arts Center Cooling Plant Expansion,
Tampa, FL
Kimley-Horn is providing civil engineering, landscape architecture, and mechanical
engineering services for this $100 million, transformative expansion of the David
A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts (Straz Center) in downtown Tampa,
Florida. Already a marquee destination for locals, visitors, and performers, the
vision for the Straz Center seeks to enhance the user experience with new, high-
end amenity concepts, community gathering spaces, and greater performance
capabilities. Design features include an arrival plaza with pathways and outdoor
terraces, culminating dramatically with The Veil; an eye-catching structural façade
that strengthens the connection to the Tampa Riverwalk. The central gathering
areas will be used for community events, free performances, and social gatherings
independent of traditional show times. Improvements to the Straz Center itself include a new rooftop restaurant and
lounge, as well as the Patel Conservatory Expansion, which will result in 30% more rehearsal and planning space
for music, dance, and theater programs. Kimley-Horn is also providing MEP, structural design, and commissioning
services for the replacement of the two existing cooling towers for the Straz Center central energy plant. The goal of
the replacement project is to equip the central energy plant with higher-capacity cooling towers that still fit within the
existing cooler yard.
Dates of Service:
2024–Ongoing
Contact:
H Jonathan R.
