RFQ #26-07-01 Continuing Professional Architectural and Engineering Consulting Services | 26MLA00190
| Page 76 Approach - Survey / MappingSection 4

SURVEYING AND MAPPING
UNDERSTANDING AND APPROACH

While a multi-disciplinary firm, Miller Legg has its roots in the surveying and mapping profession. One of
Miller Legg’s two founding members, Bob Legg, PSM, established his successful land surveying business in
South Florida in the 1960s and R.P. Legg & Associates was responsible for a large variety of surveying
projects in the tri-county area before merging into Miller Legg in 1995. Weidener & Associates, a well-known
Miami-Dade County land surveying firm since 1985, subsequently joined the Miller Legg family in 2007. Our
firm continues to build upon this long and worthy legacy of combined surveying and mapping experience
and project history in Miami-Dade County.

The firm’s surveying and mapping services experience for municipal and County projects includes:

Sketch and legal descriptions
As-built surveys
Control surveys
Topographic surveys
Boundary surveys
Quantity surveys
Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE)
Construction Layout surveys
ALTA/ACSM surveys
Wetland Delineation and Location
surveys
Right-of-way surveys
Specific purpose surveys
Hydrographic/Bathymetric surveys
Geodetic surveys
Platting
Tree Surveys
FEMA elevation certificates
Our Survey Party Chiefs and their teams are based out of the Miami office and can draw support when
necessary from additional staff at our headquarters office in Sunrise.

Miller Legg looks forward to providing Surveying and Mapping Services to the City of Sunny Isles Beach. Since
1985, we are proud to have collaborated with numerous municipalities in Miami-Dade County through
Professional Services Contracts, as well as directly with Miami-Dade County under the General Land and
Engineering Surveying Services contracts. From this experience, we have the professional acumen, depth of
technical staff, extensive experience, modern equipment and cutting-edge methodology to meet your needs
in a timely and economical manner.

Project Approach

For each project under the Continuing Professional Services Contract for the Category of Surveying and
Mapping which involves surveying, mapping, and underground utility location services (SUE), Miller Legg will
discuss the specifics of each project with the City of Sunny Isles Beach Project Manager. Sandro Elvir, CST, our
Survey Project Manager, will ask any questions that immediately come to mind to evaluate the specific project
scope of services and a reasonable fee estimate. As the fee estimate is being prepared, Miller Legg will perform
research which includes, but is not limited to, prior surveys or documents in the possession of Miller Legg;
section corner, horizontal and vertical control, and prior survey information prepared by others. Once the
scope is fully evaluated and the specific tasks to be performed are detailed, an appropriate fee will be
established. This fee will be a fair and equitable estimate of the time needed to complete the tasks.

Once the fee estimate is finalized, it will be submitted for review. Following any negotiations that may need
to occur, an Authorization to Proceed will be issued allowing work to commence on the project.

Upon receipt of an Authorization to Proceed, Miller Legg will begin our Survey team approach to the project.
This will start with a Kick-Off Meeting including all the Team members, to review the finalized scope of
