APProACH / MetHoDoLoGy 78P261925RFQ # 26-07-01 • CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING CONSULTING SERVICES (CCNA)
Effective coordination is essential to ensure that
Sunny Isles Beach will have the information needed
to address project-related issues in an efficient and
timely manner. Through the coordination effort,
Moffatt & Nichol’s Contract Manager will keep Sunny
Isles Beach staff fully informed on the status of each
work assignment and where decisions by Sunny
Isles Beach or other agencies are required. In such
instances, e-mail or hardcopy correspondence and
verbal communication will be directed to Sunny Isles
Beach, along with the required response dates.
Moffatt & Nichol will initiate the process of updating
and advancing progress to minimize the risk of
anyone missing appointed responsibilities.
Approach to Schedule Control:
Our goal is to establish a project schedule for
each task that will provide the highest quality
design plans while minimizing the review effort
required by the City of Sunny Isles Beach.
We believe that by listening to the City’s ideas and
concerns in the early stages of a project and ensuring
regular communication, we can submit focused
reports and plans which address all relevant issues.
Our approach to the project process and our project
management plan is key to the success of fast-tracked
and challenging projects. Scheduling will be performed
utilizing MS Project; however, the Moffatt & Nichol
Team will utilize whatever software tools are preferred
by the City. As with the other elements of project
management, the level of detail in the task schedules
will be dictated by the kind of tasks.
Approach to Project Quality Control:
Moffatt & Nichol will be working as an extension
of the City of Sunny Isles Beach staff; therefore,
it is essential that City’s personnel have
confidence in the quality of our work. Moffatt & Nichol is
committed to producing quality work products that are
both safe for the public and free of errors that may lead
to construction claims.
This commitment demands that
our work products go through a
rigorous QC process. Moffatt &
Nichol’s Quality Management
System is certified to ISO
9001:2015 and the east coast offices operate
within this certified QMS. This certification confirms
that our Quality Management System has been
independently assessed and found to conform to
the international standard for quality management
providing city of Sunny Isles Beach with verified
assurance that our processes for delivering
consistent, conforming work are in place, audited,
and continually improved. Our project managers
are responsible for making sure that documentation
verifying adherence to the project’s QC/QA Plan is
kept in the project files. In addition, we perform our
own internal audits of randomly chosen projects to
verify that the quality procedures are followed by
trained personnel. Keeping with this ISO certification,
Moffatt & Nichol has developed a QC procedure that
all projects follow. This is a systematic process that
every work product undergoes prior to submission
to the client. Reviews are always performed by
experienced engineers who were not actively
involved in the preparation of the deliverable. The
Moffatt & Nichol quality process does not end with
the QA/QC of project deliverables. It continues with
interdisciplinary, constructability and biddability
reviews which are critical components of the
design QC process. These additional reviews aid in
limiting the risk of construction claims due to plan
component inconsistencies, impractical details, or
ambiguous plan notes. Full participation in the Owner
Engineer Contractor regular meetings is essential to
time and budget for the project construction.
ISO 9001 Certified Review Process:
SteP1
1. reADy For revIeW
originator/Lead technical Professional
2. revIeW
Independent reviewer
SteP2 SteP3 SteP4 SteP5
Moffatt & Nichol is ISO 9001 certified, demonstrating our commitment to quality.
