4. Approach | Methodology
Technology & Tools
Our qualified individuals can put the technology to work to the advantage of the client. All our
computers have at least quad-core processors running recent versions of Microsoft Windows 11
running as a virtual environment to provide optimal compatibility when required. We also have high-
power Workstations dedicated to AutoCAD/CIVIL 3D (CAD) machines. These high-end computers
are required to run our in-house latest versions of design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D 2026
PIX4D Mapper/Survey, MicroStation with capabilities to do 3D modeling, ArcGIS 10 to create GIS
models, modeling software like iCPR and HydraFLOW, and Carlson Survey software for field data
collection and survey operations.
Our Surveying equipment is also state-of-the-art, including Digital Total Station and the latest GNSS
dual-frequency receiver systems with top-of-the-line field data collectors, capable of recording
information with great accuracy, and complete synchronization with our computer aided design
software. We also have all the printing capabilities in house, with full size 24”x36”, half size 11”x17” and
high-speed regular printing, enabling us to produce hard copies and deliverables for our clients, at
the push of a button Our staff is trained in client satisfaction, and will provide responses within 24
hours of request, and usually a lot quicker than that. Our key staff are available by phone 24 hours a
day, ensuring we are always just a call away.
PDS produces highly detailed surveys using UAVs with ASPRS Accuracy Standards for Digital
Orthophotos Class III and FAA Part 107 Certified Remote Pilots. Our UAV fleet includes DJI drones
equipped with RTK modules or connected to the NTRIP Florida Permanent Reference Network
(FPRN) for enhanced positioning accuracy. The aerial survey process includes the establishment of
Ground Control Points (GCPs) referenced to County-provided benchmarks and elevations, followed
by mission planning and automated flight execution. Imagery is processed using Pix4D Mapper to
orthorectify and align photographs, generate dense point clouds, Digital Terrain Models (DTMs),
contour mapping, 3D surfaces models, orthophotos, and other project-specific deliverables.
PDS also performs bathymetric surveys utilizing a CEE-LINE Echo Sounder integrated with Cee-Line
Connect software for data acquisition and system configuration. Collected bathymetric data is
processed within AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop underwater surface models, contours, profiles, and
other engineering deliverables requiring accurate depth and bottom elevation information.
Project Controls & Cost Management
Digital project management platforms, customized schedules, and phase-by-phase cost estimating,
including value engineering and constructability reviews, ensure financial transparency and effective
cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
68
