2. QUALIFICATIONS
48SRS Engineering, Inc.• RFQ No. 26-07-01
2. SUBCONSULTANTS _______________
EXPERIENCE BY CALTRAN ENGINEERING GROUP, INC.
Caltran Engineering Group, Inc. served as the prime consultant for
the City of Miami Gardens’ Architectural and Engineering Services
contract from 2019 to 2025, providing specialized traffic engineering
and transportation planning expertise. The firm supported the City
through data-driven traffic analysis, roadway improvements, and
safety enhancements, including traffic calming measures, wayfinding,
and lighting design, while also coordinating traffic operations for major
events at Hard Rock Stadium to improve overall mobility city-wide.
EXPERIENCE BY CURTIS + ROGERS DESIGN STUDIO
Curtis + Rogers Design Studio, Inc. was retained by the City of Miami in April 2022 to provide design services for the
waterfront improvements at Morningside Park. This multimillion-dollar project focuses on a 9-acre recreational
waterfront within a larger 42-acre park along Biscayne Bay,
aiming to enhance both resiliency and public access. The design
incorporates an improved living shoreline using oolite limestone
breakwater elements, along with a new six-foot seawall and raised
baywalk to mitigate flooding and address sea-level rise. Additional
features include native coastal vegetation, open gathering spaces,
and scenic viewpoints, all intended to connect people with the
natural environment. Overall, the project serves as a model for
climate-resilient waterfront design, reducing tidal flood impacts
while promoting equitable access and long-term adaptability.
EXPERIENCE BY SMART-SCIENCES, INC.
Smart-Sciences is playing a key role in advancing the City of Miami’s seawall
improvement initiative (Project Nos. 40-B233811 & 40- B233812), which began
in May 2024, by providing specialized benthic survey and marine permitting
services as a subconsultant. Supporting the replacement and elevation of aging
seawalls and the development of new baywalks along Biscayne Bay, the team
is conducting detailed seagrass and marine resource assessments, as well as
comprehensive wildlife impact analyses. In coordination with project engineers,
Smart- Sciences is also preparing and managing critical local, state, and federal
permitting efforts, ensuring full environmental compliance while contributing
to the development of resilient, sustainable waterfront infrastructure for the City.
EXPERIENCE NELCO TESTING & ENGINEERING SERVICES, INC
NELCO Testing & Engineering Services, Inc. provided geotechnical engineering services for the Cutler Bay
Roadway & Drainage Improvements project and performed subsurface soil explorations, including test borings, soil
sampling, and asphalt coring, in accordance with ASTM and SFWMD standards to evaluate existing site conditions.
Based on the field and laboratory data collected, NELCO prepared a comprehensive geotechnical report outlining
subsurface conditions and providing engineering recommendations to support the design and construction of
the proposed improvements. Their work ensured that the project was guided by accurate geotechnical analysis,
contributing to safe and effective infrastructure development.
