This work was accompanied by a robust examination of funding mechanisms to develop implementation strategies.
FDOT District 4, Southeast Florida Regional Planning Model, FL | Project Manager - Corradino has been the developer and primary modeler for the southeast Florida model covering Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties since 1995, including the development of the SERPM7 activity-based model (2015). Ken directed all modeling activities for SERPM 4, 5, and 6; and was the lead Corradino modeler for SERPM 7. Ken is now participating in the development of SERPM9 and the maintenance of SERPM8.
Gainesville Model Development, Gainesville MTPO, Alachua County, FL | Principal-in-charge - Corradino developed the Gainesville/Alachua County model with a 2015 base year and a 2045 future year. As part of this project, Ken directed the model calibration/validation efforts of the four-step travel demand model with special University trip purposes and non-motorized travel. Ken calibrated the trip generation, distribution models, and the nested logit mode choice model for the region. In addition to the model validation, Ken directed the 2045 socioeconomic data forecasts for the region’s LRTP and developed the R-based visualization dashboard.
North Florida TPO, 2035 Long-Range Plan Update for the North Florida TPO (Jacksonville Region) | Lead Modeler - Corradino revalidated and enhanced the Northeast Florida Regional Planning Model (NERPM) and applied the model to support the LRTP update (2010). The new model added Baker and Putnam Counties, improved accuracy, added more complete reports for highway validation measures, implemented all new Florida Standard procedures for transit modeling and mode choice using Public Transport (PT) and added modeling features to all for testing of managed lanes, and provided training in the use of the model. Ken developed, implemented, calibrated, and applied the model and directed other Corradino staff.
I-95 Corridor Design Concept, Unified Corridor Traffic Analysis Study, Implement Express Lanes | Forecasting Lead - 30 miles in Broward and Palm Beach Counties (2015). Developed multi-resolution modeling approach to integrate the travel demand forecasts with VISSIM microsimulation software.
FDOT District 4 Regionwide 2035 and 2040 LOS Assessment | Principal-in-charge - Developed forecasts for the FDOT D4 regionwide LOS assessment project for 2035 and 2040 conditions for FDOT D4. As part of this process, a cost-saving forecasting technique using CUBE Analyst was implemented. FDOT and the consultant team were selected for a Davis Productivity Award for this effort.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Kentucky Statewide Corridor Planning Study, Statewide | Project Manager - Corradino is conducting a statewide study of major and significant highway corridors in Kentucky. The study is evaluating all major roadways of statewide significance, which include filling in gaps on new alignment, as well as improvements to existing roads. Through a screening process and outreach to stakeholders, Corradino is developing a set of corridors for further evaluation. For the top 20 corridors, Corradino will develop corridor visions, which will include a summary of impacts, costs, and benefits. In a related study, Corradino is studying all interstates and parkways statewide
Indiana Statewide Travel Demand Model | Prime Consultant Project Manager - Corradino has been on a team to update the Indiana Statewide Travel Demand Model (ISTDM). Corradino updated the ISTDM to a new version (ISTDM8) with a new base year of 2015, a new future year of 2045, and interim years of 2025 and 2035. All components of the 2015 base model (i.e., trip generation, distribution, model choice for long-distance transit trips, and traffic assignment) were calibrated to available traffic counts and other observed data.
TDOT Travel Demand Modeling Standards | Technical Lead - TDOT is establishing standards for Travel Demand Modeling for potential use by MPOs, urban areas, and/or future MPOs. It is a three-phase effort, and Corradino conducted the first phase as a task order in its on-call long-range planning contract. Phase I included a Literature Review, Assembly & Analysis of TDOT Models & Data, Survey of Tennessee MPOs/Outreach/Workshop, National DOT Outreach, and Literature report. Corradino has completed these efforts and delivered the literature review report, which included preliminary recommendations.
KYTC Modeling On-Call | Project Manager - General modeling consultant for KYTC. Ken is the Project Manager and Chief Modeler on this project. Corradino has developed many regional models and enhanced the Statewide Model. Process using TransCAD.
Kentucky Statewide Traffic Model (KYSTM) | Project Manager - General modeling consultant for KYTC. Ken serves as project manager and chief modeler on this project. Corradino has developed many regional models and enhanced the KYSTM. Ken manages the project, develops and calibrates models, prepares documentation, and provides KYTC staff training. The latest task is to enhance the KYSTM (KYSTMv20), upgrade KYSTM and all existing MPO/regional models to TransCAD 8 and update all model documents and manuals.
KENNETH D.
