<br />Town of Surfside, Surfside, FL | Urban Planner - Eddy currently supports the Town Planner by providing expert staff assistance in interpreting the local zoning ordinance and comprehensive plan. His responsibilities include enforcing the adopted land development code, conducting technical site plan reviews, and preparing detailed technical reports for public hearings. He also provides expert analysis on the process for site plan reviews, rezonings, variances, and tentative/waiver plat development request(s). In addition, Eddy is actively assisting the Town’s Planning & Zoning Board in facilitating a series of public workshops focused on updating the community’s single-family residential design guidelines—aimed at enhancing the quality and consistency of future single-family residential development. Eddy is assisting the Town of Surfside with the comprehensive 2026 update to its Design Guidelines, advancing the document from the original 2007 version. The update refocused the guidelines exclusively on single-family residential development, reorganizing the document to clearly distinguish best practices for renovations and additions from those applicable to new construction. The revised guidelines emphasize preservation and reinvestment in Surfside’s “Legacy Homes” (1920s–1970s) while ensuring that new construction and expansions respect the established scale, form, and architectural character of the Town’s neighborhoods.
