Field data collection is then utilized to augment available databases. The following additional key elements will be reviewed when completing a safety analysis: <br />• Identify crash types associated with severe and fatal injuries based on system-wide collision data <br />• Identify risk factors associated with severe crash types that can be used to identify and prioritize other high-risk locations, regardless of location crash history. <br />• Identify low-cost countermeasures that can be implemented at many locations where risk factors are present throughout the transportation system to maximize the safety investment return. <br />• Identify, map, and prioritize locations across the roadway network for implementation through HSIP and other available funding mechanisms. The Corradino Team regularly assists jurisdictions with successful funding applications. <br />The Corradino Team conducts roadway safety audits or Multimodal Safety Assessments (MMSAs) that combine fieldwork with data-driven crash analysis to evaluate safety performance for all users—drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and transit riders. These audits go beyond a conventional crash analysis by observing real-world user behavior. This approach ensures that recommendations address the full range of safety issues in the corridor. Findings are translated into context-sensitive strategies, from signal timing adjustments to complete street redesigns, giving agencies a clear roadmap for targeted, high-impact safety improvements. <br />During audits, our team documents conflict points, <br />crossing challenges, signalization gaps, visibility issues, and design elements that may unintentionally encourage unsafe behaviors. We incorporate crash data, roadway design features, and real-world user patterns into a holistic picture of how the corridor is functioning. The result is a set of targeted, context-sensitive recommendations—ranging from low-cost operational adjustments to corridor-scale design solutions, that prioritize safety while balancing mobility and livability goals. <br />| TRAFFIC CALMING <br />The Corradino Team has relevant, recent experience and expertise in preparing traffic-calming analyses, studies, and designs, as well as in obtaining permitting for approved devices. Corradino has assisted numerous South Florida municipalities in analyzing, designing, and installing traffic calming devices in their communities. A neighborhood traffic calming study aims to assess and address traffic-related concerns in a residential area to enhance safety, reduce speeds, and improve livability. The steps to complete a neighborhood traffic calming study include the following: <br />• Identification of the study area (specific neighborhood, street segments, etc.) based on resident complaints, crash data, and observed traffic issues. <br />• Establish the project goals and objectives, including the reduction of vehicle speeds, improvement of pedestrian and bicycle safety, and enhancement of the overall quality of life. <br />• Define the traffic data collection for the neighborhood. <br />o Speed data and bi-directional traffic volumes should be collected during three (3) consecutive days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).
