• Access to Daily Needs (convenience)• Access to Places to Play (parks and open space/entertainment)• Access to Learning Opportunities (education)• Streetscape planning and concept development
Corradino views streets not just as conduits for movement but as public spaces that shape community identity and quality of life. Streets are the backbone of community life, and our focus is on creating corridors that balance mobility and placemaking. Streetscape planning begins with a careful assessment of right-of-way conditions, pedestrian demand, bicycle activity, and adjacent land uses. From there, we develop concepts that balance the functional needs of mobility with the experiential qualities of place.
The Corradino Team’s design concepts seamlessly integrate safety, accessibility, and aesthetics with practical elements such as shade, lighting, landscaping, and stormwater management. Green infrastructure strategies, wayfinding, and public art are often layered into our streetscape frameworks to ensure that corridors contribute to both resilience and vibrancy. By blending urban design sensibilities with transportation planning expertise, we deliver streetscapes that are functional, adaptable, and deeply rooted in the character of their surrounding communities.
• Open space, recreational, urban, and environmental planning
Healthy, livable communities require access to high-quality open spaces. Our team develops frameworks that balance recreational needs with ecological preservation and the pressures of urban development. We assess existing park systems, trail networks, and recreational facilities to identify service gaps, equity challenges, and opportunities for expanded access. At the same time, we evaluate environmental conditions to ensure that planning respects ecological systems and integrates green infrastructure where possible.
The strategies we develop balance recreation with stewardship. We create open space frameworks that expand opportunities for active living, protect sensitive landscapes, and strengthen resilience to climate impacts. By linking parks and recreational facilities to the multimodal transportation network, we also ensure that open spaces are accessible and connected, serving as everyday assets rather than isolated destinations.
• Public space planning and concept development
Public spaces serve as the stage for civic life, and our approach is rooted in creating inclusive, flexible, and
memorable places. We work directly with residents, businesses, and civic leaders to identify demand for plazas, parks, and civic gathering spaces, using participatory design tools to ensure that concepts reflect the community’s culture and aspirations.
Our concepts prioritize accessibility and safety while also addressing the programming needs of the spaces and their capacity to adapt over time. Whether we are designing a plaza that accommodates both everyday activities and special events, or envisioning a neighborhood park that balances recreation and peaceful retreat, our approach ensures these spaces serve a variety of functions for diverse audiences. By integrating public spaces into the broader network of streets, public transit, and land uses, we enhance their ability to activate neighborhoods and support economic vitality.
• Development of urban design and streetscape design standards
Land development regulations serve as the bridge between vision and implementation, ensuring that each new investment contributes to a cohesive, high-quality urban environment. To ensure consistency and replicability, our team helps communities translate vision into policy that guides future investment. We prepare urban design and streetscape guidelines that establish expectations for roadway cross-sections, sidewalk design, landscaping, lighting, furnishings, and multimodal treatments.
These standards are not prescriptive checklists but context-sensitive frameworks. We design them to be flexible enough to adapt to different district identities and scales while still advancing consistent goals for safety, accessibility, and livability. By codifying best practices into standards, we help communities streamline project delivery and ensure predictability and continuity between planning and implementation. This approach not only elevates the design quality of individual projects but also builds a recognizable identity for the community as a whole.
