The process of public involvement will be like a pyramid, building a basis of support to carry the plan to implementation. Tailored to fit each project, Corradino anticipates utilizing stakeholder meetings and public workshops to engage and communicate with key stakeholders, City staff, and residents. As warranted, Corradino embraces incorporating Community Remarks® into projects to efficiently and easily solicit valuable, map-based citizen engagement in a collaborative, visual manner, open for the public to see and comment on. This interactive online tool is an effective mapping and feedback platform for collecting and discussing community issues from the public. Citizens post location-based comments and photographs on a Google Maps background, capturing feedback from around the region through a mobile-friendly interface. All public engagement efforts are designed on a project-specific basis to help fully understand and address the needs and concerns of the City and key stakeholders, ensuring that all voices are not only heard but also addressed. Corradino has the depth of PIO personnel who serve Traffic Engineering, Planning, Design, CEI, and PD&E contracts. <br />Innovations in Public Engagement <br />Corradino has recently utilized alternative public engagement tools to meet Title VI and ADA requirements. The following initiatives offer age-friendly planning supportive of local connections among transportation, health, and community planning: <br />1. Pop-up engagements: Pop-up engagements involve setting up eye-catching, interactive, oversized survey boards in places where people typically gather as part of their everyday lives, such as transit stations, parks, or shopping malls. Participants can use sticker dots and sticky notes to provide project feedback and have one-on-one conversations with project team members. <br />2. Public life studies: Our team is experienced in measuring and evaluating the performance of streets, parks, plazas, and other public spaces with an age-friendly lens. To do this, we conduct observation-based “public life studies” to develop an objective understanding of how the public space currently <br />functions. Public life studies are typically conducted before and after improvements to measure the project’s impacts. <br />3. Rapid urban prototyping: Also known as “pilot projects,” rapid urban prototypes are developed with community members to test new ideas in public spaces inexpensively and temporarily. The wider community is invited to use the prototypes, and their feedback is incorporated into the final designs and permanent installations. This approach optimizes investments in transit systems and public spaces. <br />Our team can leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to deploy public involvement strategies to provide robust support by integrating several innovative AI applications into its processes. We can use AI-driven data analytics to process and analyze large volumes of public feedback, identifying key trends and sentiments to inform decision-making. This allows for a more nuanced understanding of community needs and concerns. Additionally, AI-powered tools can facilitate real-time communication and engagement through chatbots and virtual assistants, ensuring that public input is gathered efficiently and inclusively. These tools can be programmed to handle multiple languages, making public participation more accessible to diverse communities. Furthermore, we can employ machine learning algorithms to predict and model the potential impacts of various project proposals, providing the public with clear and comprehensible visualizations of future scenarios. This can be achieved through digital twins and 3D visualization technologies, which allow stakeholders to interact with and comment on planning ideas and mobility scenarios. Our approach is not to replace human interaction with chatbots and other forms of communication, but rather to leverage technology to broaden reach and enhance the public’s experience as a partner in transportation planning. By integrating AI into public involvement strategies, Corradino can help the City enhance transparency, foster greater community engagement, and ensure that public input is effectively incorporated into project planning and execution.
