<br />HBC’s proposed structural team provides more than three decades of individual experience in structural analysis, design, inspection, rehabilitation,
<br />building evaluation, public infrastructure, and construction. Together, the proposed professionals provide complementary expertise in both new
<br />structural design and evaluation of existing facilities.
<br />Bunrith Heng, MS, PE | Structural Engineer | 32 Years of Experience
<br />Bunrith Heng is a Florida Professional Engineer with more than three decades of structural engineering and construction
<br />experience. He specializes in the structural analysis and design of buildings, bridges, foundations, retaining walls, sheet
<br />pile walls, mast arms, sign structures, and related structural systems.
<br />Mr. Heng is proficient in ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, Autodesk Civil 3D, and Revit. His recent work includes structural and
<br />foundation design for FDOT transportation improvements, hurricane-hardening evaluations for water-treatment facilities,
<br />and condition assessments of existing structures.
<br />For Sunny Isles Beach assignments, Mr. Heng’s responsibilities may include:
<br />His current and recent assignments include FDOT District 4 S.R. 7/U.S. 441 Transit Corridor Improvements, Palm Beach County Water Treatment
<br />Plant No. 2 Expansion, Boca Rio Road improvements, and S.R. 817/University Drive Widening. His prior experience also includes bridge condition
<br />assessments for Disney facilities.
<br />Sonny Abia, PhD, PE | Structural Engineer | Existing-Building Assessment | 32 Years of Experience
<br />Dr. Sonny Abia is a Florida Professional Engineer with extensive design, construction, structural evaluation, inspection,
<br />permitting, plans review, cost-estimating, contract-administration, and project-management experience. His background
<br />is particularly relevant to the City’s potential needs for existing-building inspections, structural condition assessments,
<br />rehabilitation recommendations, and recertification-related services.
<br />At HBC, Dr. Abia performs structural inspections and evaluations and supports QA/QC for public-sector assignments.
<br />His recent experience includes serving as Senior Civil/Structural Engineer and Project Manager for the Miami-Dade
<br />County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Multiple Parks 40-Year Building Recertification Inspection Services
<br />Contract. That work includes structural condition assessments, signed and sealed evaluation reports, repair and
<br />renovation recommendations, and long-term maintenance strategies.
<br />His relevant experience also includes structural review for modifications to City of Miami Fire-Rescue Station No. 5, as
<br />well as major Miami-Dade County transportation and infrastructure projects.
