HBC Engineering Company | 109

Chun Li, PE
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Summary
Mr. Li has 34 years of structural engineering experience. He has extensive experience in bridge
and building structural design. His experience includes pedestrian bridges, interchanges,
concrete bridges, segmental bridges and steel bridges. He is conversant with design codes such
as American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), American
Concrete Institute (ACI), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC); with design methods
such as allowable stress design, load factor design and load and resistance factor design; and
with MicroStation.
SR-5/US1 from South Street to Magnolia/Shangri-La Drive
CLIENT Florida Department of Transportation District 4 | ROLE Quality Reviewer
Quality Reviewer for design of foundations and approach slabs of two pedestrian bridges, box
culvert extension, and post-design services. One feature of the design is aluminum
prefabricated truss bridges are recommend to FDOT for the two pedestrian bridges across the
creek, and technical special provisions of aluminum prefabricated truss bridges were prepared,
since these are the first aluminum pedestrian bridges used in FDOT projects.
Snake Creek Pedestrian Bridge
CLIENT City of North Miami Beach | ROLE Structure Design Engineer The new pedestrian bridge crossing the Snake Creek (C-9) Canal at Challenger Park in North
Miami Beach replaced a timber structure that was decades old and in dire need of repair. So
much so, that the timber structure was closed to traffic for a number of months before its
demolition. Assessed the costs of repairing and continued maintenance versus replacing. The
economics overwhelmingly proved that replacement would be in the City’s best interest. Mr. Li
served as Structure Design Engineer and involved in the preliminary concept design and the
final design of geometry, pile bent foundation.
District Wide Load Rating of Bridge Structure
CLIENT Florida Department of Transportation District 6 | ROLE Project Engineer The project includes load rating of multiple of district wide existing bridge structures with
prestressed concrete beam, prestressed concrete slab, steel girder or reinforce concrete slab.
Mr. Li served as the Project Engineer and was responsible for the overall load rating.
SR-7/NW 5th Street Bridge Replacement over the Miami River
CLIENT Florida Department of Transportation District 6 | ROLE Project Engineer The project includes one 150’ bascule bridge, one 34’ approach span at each end with CIP
concrete slab, four MSE walls and one seawall around the bridge. Mr. Li served as the Project
Engineer and was responsible for the overall design of the approach spans, the MSE walls and
the seawall. He designed the MSE walls and the seawall and performed QC for the approach
spans structure components.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Consolidated Rental Car Facility
CLIENT Broward County Aviation Department | ROLE Project Engineer
The structure is a 1300’ 22 span concrete bridge. Mr. Li designed the geometry, Piers and
foundation. He also performed the APM study that evaluated options for incorporating the
automated people mover (APM) Structure into the design and construction of the busway
34 Years of Experience
Education
MS Structural and Foundation
Engineering - University of
Central Florida
MS Geotechnical Engineering -
Zhejiang University
BS Civil Engineering - Zhejiang
University
License
Professional Engineer:
Florida 63052
