The role also involved <br />coordinating with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to <br />obtain approval for the project's exterior lighting plan, ensuring compliance with <br />marine turtle protection requirements by minimizing adverse impacts to nesting <br />females and hatchling sea turtles. Additional responsibilities included coordinating <br />with the multidisciplinary design team, preparing technical documentation to support <br />regulatory reviews, and assisting in addressing agency comments throughout the <br />permitting process to facilitate project approval. <br />Boca Chica Restoration Engineering with Nature, NAS Key West, FL. Coastal <br />Engineer responsible for leading the coastal resilience assessment, engineering <br />analysis, and development of shoreline protection alternatives for Geiger Beach at <br />Naval Air Station (NAS) Key West. The project enhanced the resilience of critical <br />military infrastructure by reducing the vulnerability of Runway 32 and adjacent airfield <br />facilities to shoreline erosion, wave attack, storm surge, sea level rise, and future <br />coastal hazards. Applying Engineering with Nature (EWN) principles, the project <br />evaluated nature-based and hybrid shoreline stabilization strategies that provide long- <br />term protection while maintaining natural coastal processes and ecological function. <br />Responsibilities included coastal engineering analyses of shoreline conditions, waves, <br />water levels, sediment transport, erosion, and storm impacts to assess risk, identify <br />vulnerabilities, and establish design criteria. Multiple shoreline protection alternatives <br />were developed and evaluated based on resilience, wave attenuation, shoreline <br />stability, constructability, environmental benefits, and long-term maintenance. <br />Solutions were designed to protect mission-critical infrastructure while maintaining <br />airfield operations, avoiding wildlife hazards, preserving recreational beach access, and <br />supporting long-term environmental and community objectives through <br />multidisciplinary coordination. <br />Crystal River Archaeological State Park Living Shoreline, Citrus County, FL. Project <br />engineer responsible for evaluating, permitting, and designing approximately 800 <br />linear feet of shoreline armoring at FDEP’s Crystal River Archaeological Park to <br />prevent shoreline erosion caused by storms and local boat traffic. Alternatives <br />included Nature Based Solutions NBS (living shoreline and revetted shoreline), and <br />seawall repairs. The team analyzed the coastal site conditions such as water currents, <br />wind waves, boat wakes, and water levels (tidal, storm surge, sea level rise) and <br />provided design and construction support services. <br />5775 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL. Engineer in charge of the numerical modeling <br />required for a FEMA CLOMR based on fill to modify the proposed structure’s <br />effective flood zone from a partial AE flood zone to an X zone. Services included <br />coordination with design team relative to fill activities meeting base flood elevation <br />requirements and coordination with the local municipality. Services provided also <br />include Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Coastal <br />Construction Control Line (CCCL) permitting of a new condominium with pool <br />deck/amenity area and associated Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FFWCC) <br />exterior lighting approval to reduce impacts to nesting/hatchling marine. <br />
