HBC Engineering Company | 19
SR-817/University Dr from Nova Dr to SR-84
Corridor Improvements Project
Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 4 (D4)
This project involves a series of significant improvements along SR-817/
University Drive from Nova Drive to SR-84. The key project enhancements
include widening pavement to accommodate a new auxiliary lane extending
from NW 23rd Street to the westbound I-595 ramps, improving traffic flow
and accessibility. Additionally, existing drainage structures, overhead
signs, a mast arm, and utility poles will be repositioned to support the road
modifications and ensure safety.
The bus stop bay at the northeast corner of Nova Drive and SR-817/University
Drive will be redesigned to enhance passenger access and operational
efficiency. Furthermore, adjustments will be made to the right-turning lanes
serving the Royal Grand community, PNC Bank, and Nova Drive, optimizing
traffic movement and reducing congestion in the area.
These improvements enhance traffic safety and efficiency, reduce delays,
and provide better public transport access along this crucial corridor. By
addressing infrastructure needs and reconfiguring existing layouts, the
project supports current and future traffic demands, while contributing to
the region’s overall development.
Location
Davie, FL
Dates
02/2022 - Ongoing
Budget
HBC Fee: $1.7M
Reference
Lance Jones, PE
(954) 777-4680
lance.jones1@dot.state.fl.us
Key Components
Pavement widening,
drainage improvements,
sign relocation, mast
arm relocation, utility
pole relocation, bus
bay redesign, turn lane
adjustments, traffic flow
optimization, safety
enhancements, and transit
access improvements.
