HBC Engineering Company | 35 <br />Buildings Report for Capital Repair Plans <br />Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department (MDC-WASD) <br />This MDC-WASD Buildings Report for Capital Repair Plans Project <br />involved the inspection of MDC-WASD-owned buildings and water <br />treatment structures at the Alexander Orr and Hialeah Water Treatment <br />Plants. These inspections were performed on the Raw Sludge Holding <br />Tanks, Chlorine Contact Basins, Flocculator/Settling Tanks, Clarifiers, <br />Aeration Basins, Filtration System Areas, Sodium Silicate/Lime Unloading <br />Stations, Sludge Pump Rooms, High Service Pump Rooms, Ammonia <br />Storage and Feed Areas, Fuel Tanks, and Warehouses. Ancillary structures <br />included one-story reinforced concrete and masonry buildings used to <br />house equipment, as well as metal and reinforced concrete staircases <br />and platforms providing access to all areas, metal ladders, and safety <br />handrails. <br />HBC developed a standardized inspection template and led a team <br />of engineer inspectors in performing structural evaluations. HBC was <br />responsible for completing detailed structural inspection reports and <br />reviewing reports prepared by others to ensure accuracy of content <br />and consistency in formatting. These reports included photographic <br />documentation highlighting both structural deficiencies and well- <br />maintained features, along with recommendations for repairs and <br />associated quantity calculations. <br />HBC was responsible for overseeing the inspection of multiple buildings <br />on behalf of MDC-WASD.
