HBC Engineering Company | 40
Port Everglades Master/Vision Plan Update Project
Broward County
Port Everglades is a key economic and transportation hub in Broward County,
facilitating cargo, cruise, and bulk liquid shipments. To support long-term growth
and operational efficiency, HBC provided traffic engineering and master planning
services for the Port Everglades Master/Vision Plan Update. The study focused on
evaluating traffic flow, truck circulation, and parking conditions within the port to
enhance logistics efficiency and future infrastructure planning.
HBC’s scope of work encompassed performing traffic analysis, parking
assessment, and financial feasibility studies, ensuring data-driven
recommendations for future port operations. The key elements included:
• Traffic and Parking Analysis – Conducted a comprehensive review of truck
volumes, parking capacity, and circulation patterns, including data collection,
field surveys, and safety assessments at freight gates.
• Future Traffic and Parking Projections – Modeled long-term truck traffic and
parking demands to anticipate future needs.
• Affordability Analysis – Developed an integrated financial model to assess
revenue and expense scenarios for cruise, cargo, and bulk liquid operations,
generating profit-and-loss forecasts and financial ratios.
This project enables Broward County to make informed infrastructure investments,
improving truck circulation and parking, while ensuring efficient freight movement
within the port. The findings support strategic decision-making for future expansion,
enhancing operational sustainability, and economic viability.
HBC’s contributions to the Port Everglades Master/Vision Plan Update provide
a foundation for future port enhancements, ensuring efficient transportation
logistics, financial feasibility, and long-term operational success.
Location
Broward County, FL
Dates
11/2023 - Ongoing
Budget
HBC Fee: $110K
Reference
Maria Rivas
maria.rivas@aecom.com
Contract No.
PNC2124755P1
Scope of Services
Traffic Studies
Key Components
Traffic and parking analysis,
future projections, financial
analysis, and infrastructure
planning .
