HBC Engineering Company | 45
CEI Services for the Sanitary Force Main Furnish
and Install (F&I) Project - Phase III
Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department (MDC-WASD)
HBC provided comprehensive Construction Engineering and Inspection
(CEI) services for the installation of more than 11,000 linear feet (LF) of
sanitary sewer force mains along West, North, and East Country Club Drive,
extending from William Lehman Causeway to Yacht Club Way. The force
main system primarily consisted of 16-inch diameter pipe, with additional
segments ranging from 20 inches to 4 inches in diameter to accommodate
varying project requirements and existing utility conditions. In addition
to the utility improvements, the project included roadway milling and
resurfacing of all northbound and southbound travel lanes along West,
North, and South Country Club Drive. Associated roadway enhancements
also encompassed the installation of thermoplastic pavement markings and
striping, illuminated pedestrian crosswalks to improve visibility and support
ADA compliance, and landscaping improvements to restore and enhance
the corridor’s overall appearance and functionality.
The HBC team is managing the inspection staff and overseeing daily
construction activities to ensure the contractor adheres to MDC-WASD
safety standards, specifications, and guidelines. Their duties include
reviewing and processing shop drawings, RFIs, and pay applications;
conducting bi-weekly meetings, necessary onsite meetings, and conflict
resolution meetings; maintaining well-kept records of all daily activities,
MOT, SWPPP, and weather reports; and coordinating with the contractor,
EOR, and client for design modifications. This includes creating a redundant
backup system for the City of Aventura instead of abandoning the existing
Location
Miami-Dade County, FL
Dates
05/2023 - Ongoing
Budget
HBC Fee: $4M
Reference
Miguel Pichardo
(786) 258-2573
Miguel.Pichardo@
miamidade.gov
Contract No.
PCTS 20080
Key Components
Constuction engineering
inspection (CEI), sanitary
sewer force mains, daily
construction oversight,
safety standards
