gained extensive experience in the design and construction of earth retention and specialty deep foundation systems. Dr. Garbin was the lead design engineer for major specialty geotechnical construction projects across the country, and has also completed projects in Central America and the Caribbean. In January of 2015, Dr. Garbin joined Earth Tech as Vice President of Engineering & Technology. At Earth Tech he serves as the company’s lead technical authority for specialty geotechnical construction projects in the U.S. and the Caribbean. His practical and diverse background allows him to bring a unique perspective to the design, construction and testing of complex and innovative geotechnical systems. Dr. Garbin is a Board Certified Geotechnical Engineer. Michael Simpson, PE: Michael graduated from Auburn University in 2003 with his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering. His studies focused on geotechnical Engineering with an emphasis on drilled shafts. After college, Michael moved to Tampa, Florida where he joined Qore Property Sciences, specializing in local geotechnical consulting services. His duties included developing work scopes, estimates, project management, engineering evaluations and recommendations for geotechnical explorations. Michael left consulting in 2005 and joined the Florida branch of Hayward Baker as a Project Manager. During his nearly 10 years with Hayward baker, Michael gained valuable experience primarily in ground improvement projects located in Florida, East Georgia, and Puerto Rico. He prepared cost estimates, proposals and designs and managed Vibro Compaction, Vibro Replacement, Compaction Grout and Rigid Inclusion Projects. At the end of 2014, Michael joined Earth Tech as a Senior Project Manager. His duties at Earth Tech remain focused on the ground improvement market. Michael is currently a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida. John Barnes: John Barnes is involved in every stage of the projects he manages including; estimating, assisting in the design, contracting, coordinating, scheduling, budgeting and overseeing construction. John has over 10 years’ experience in deep foundation construction and his been involved in many projects both large and small covering a wide variety of fields. John currently holds Earth Tech’s General Contractor’s License in South Carolina. Mark Plaskett, PE: Mark graduated from the University of South Florida in 1989 with his Bachelor of science in Civil Engineering with studies focused on Geotechnical Engineering. During Mark’s almost 20 years at Hayward Baker, Mark specialized in the ground improvement side of the business working on project throughout the Southeastern United States, the Caribbean, and Central America. In addition to Project Management, Mark was also involved in Business Development. In 2015, Mark decided to pursue an opportunity as a Senior Project Manager with Earth Tech. His duties will remain focused on the ground improvement market. Mark is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida. He currently serves as Chairperson for the local ASCE Geo Institute and is also a member of the Florida Engineering Society.
