The design of the building pushes the limits of a typical
federal building design.
The building is composed of concrete with columns that lean to define the
undulating façade. The building was designed to mitigate progressive
collapse and blast pressures, which was coordinated with site security. The
project is composed of two bars that are 70 feet wide each and are
connected by a multilevel atrium, creating an interior courtyard. The width of
the bars allow for an open floor plan, permitting daylighting to flood into the
building. The project was designed for LEED Gold.
The façade of the building is unique due to its integrated, custom-designed
sunscreen panels, which are incorporated into a unitized window system.
The windows are composed of fritted glass with radio frequency shielding.
Thonton Tomasetti designed an above ground, 500-car parking garage and
service bay area. The additional annex component houses bays for
government fleet vehicles.
