The offi ce was re-established in 2009 and is managed by Marco DiRenzo and has rapidly expanded to 25 engineers and designers. BR+A began as a full-service MEP/FP engineering fi rm, providing services to the healthcare industry. Soon afterward, our healthcare practice evolved to include academic, research and science facilities. BR+A provides state-of-the-art integrated and coordinated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fi re protection consulting engineering, technology systems design and building commissioning services. Our experienced staff examines alternative solutions and provides proven and responsive engineering design for state-of-the-art facilities. We are able to handle large-scale and complex projects from inception to construction completion, in their entirety. We provide computer- based life-cycle cost analysis, sustainable building design alternatives to assist architects in envelope development, study alternative systems and feasibility of alternative layouts and are a proactive participant in value engineering – early in a project. BR+A is committed to Green Buildings and Sustainable Design. We employ ASHRAE High-Performance Building Design Professionals and have over 65 LEED Accredited Professionals. Our long list of LEED projects includes LEED Platinum and Gold, as well as new projects in pursuit of LEED Certifi cation. We also work with Green Globes, Green Guide for Healthcare, EnergyStar, and ASHRAE BEQ. BR+A is committed to being a leader in the use of BIM engineering of MEP/FP systems for technical projects. Our real-world experience has proven that buildings designed using Revit are constructed faster, with fewer confl icts and reduced change orders than similar “traditionally” designed projects. We presently have several million square feet of projects under design or in construction that are utilizing the most current versions of Autodesk Revit MEP and AutoCAD MEP for Building Information Modeling and 3D Design, as well as Autodesk Navisworks Manage for collision detection and 3D Design Review. ENGINEERING PHILOSOPHY Bard, Rao + Athanas Consulting Engineers has a design and management philosophy based upon the most senior experienced staff being involved in providing engineering leadership and excellence vis-a-vis hands-on and day-to-day engineering for projects rather than senior management personnel concentrating on and providing in-house business and administrative-focused leadership. We are an engineering practice-focused fi rm fi rst and a business-oriented fi rm second. All BR+A engineering projects are staffed, designed and managed by at least one principal.
