PROJECT APPROACH AND UNDERSTANDING
SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
At ACAI, we believe the most effective green projects are created when there is synergy among all members of the
project team. LEED Design and practices are cost efficient and environmentally sound. Good, green design accelerates
the project approval process with local governmental agencies and will result in a building which is easier to maintain.
Our designs meet LEED certification requirements, by utilizing energy efficient mechanical systems, daylighting, drought -
tolerant planting, a cool roof systems, high - performance glass (especially to meet the new code), water clarifiers and
recycled or renewable building materials.
All ACAI facilities are designed to be sustainable. To aid in that regard, Spinnaker, a firm that is is considered the
foremost authority in LEED is an integral part of the ACAI team.
ACAI follows the US Green Building Council's "LEED" Rating system. The LEED system takes into account the design,
construction, and performance of buildings, and is based on five main categories: Sustainable site development, water
savings, Energy efficiency, Material selection, and indoor environmental quality. Each category receives a number rating,
and levels of LEED certification are awarded accordingly. ACAI understands these principles and practices and is
committed to making our projects better for the people we serve and the environment in which we live.
The ACAI "Green Team ", with a staff of 6 in -house LEED Accredited Professionals, serves as the catalyst for this synergy.
Our passion for green building drives us to meet a project team's needs through a holistic, integrated design process.
While our direct client may be the owner, architect, contractor or facility manager, we invariably serve every team member
to ensure the best possible results. Our Environmental Design and LEED Consulting capabilities include the following
services: Green Material Sourcing; Green Building Charrettes and Project Strategy Sessions; Integrated Design Project
Management; LEED Certification /Registration; LEED Consulting; LEED Project Administration and Sustainable Design.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
We have reached out to business leader and communtiy advocate, Murvin Wright, to assist us with the development and
implementation of our Community Outreach Plan. We know that Mr. Wright is a highly respected member of the local
business and residential community. He invests his efforts in projects that positively benefit the City and its residents.
REQ No. 15 -04 -01 1 ARCHITECTURAL RESIGN SERVICES FOR A NEW FACILITY AT 18080 COLLINS AVE. 1
