RICARDO RUPCICH LIT
BROWARD COLLEGE SIMULATION LAB
Davie, Florida
ACAI has been selected by Broward College to design a state -of- the -art facility, which will pursue a LEEDO
Silver Certification, will include four simulation laboratories and a large Cardiovascular Room for 2 additional
simulation laboratories. Each laboratory is equipped with human patient simulators and bedside computers;
specialized hospital equipment specific to the function of each lab; internet access; digitalized video; recording
cameras and TV monitors. The labs are designed to replicate realistic practice settings and will have an EMS
ambulance bay, and Emergency Department, Critical Care units, Medical- Surgical unit, Trauma /Operating/
Dental Room, a Labor and Delivery/Neonatal Intensive Care /Pediatric unit; and open lab space to conduct
large clinical drills, as well as debriefing rooms, storage space, and video recording control rooms. Each
patient care unit will accommodate 6 students and an instructor, and have an adjoining control room and
storage. ACAI was approved for the Programming of the project, which consisted of preparing the educational
program to serve as the basis of design for the educational facilities and site improvements. The program
included every space, its intended use, capacity, additional requirements, such as equipment, furniture,
and special needs of Broward College. This scope required meetings with the Owner to gather and review
information for the program. The 65,000 sf building has been designed in a Building Information Modeling
(BIM) platform using Revit. Mr. Rupcich continues to and has been performing construction administration
activities on this project for the past 18 months.
SFWMD LAKESIDE RANCH STA PHASE I
Okeechobee, Florida
As part of a continuing service contract with the prime consultant, MACTEC Engineering and Consulting
Inc., ACAI Associates has been involved in various SFWMD's projects. For the Lakeside Ranch Stormwater
TreatmentArea (STA), ACAI's scope of work consists of providing quality control structural inspection oversight
and documentation of the work during the construction of structural components. Our inspection services
require detailed review of approved project construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings. In
2007, the Florida legislature enacted the Northern Everglades Initiative, which expands the Lake Okeechobee
Protection Act to the entire Northern Everglades system, including the Lake Okeechobee watershed as well
as the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie rivers and estuaries. The plan identifies five construction projects north
of Lake Okeechobee, including the Lakeside Ranch STA. The Lakeside Ranch STA involves construction
of a 2,700 -acre wetland area, adjacent to Lake Okeechobee in western Martin County, which will provide
approximately nine to 19 metric tons of phosphorus reduction. The reduction of phosphorus levels in runoff
flows bound for Lake Okeechobee will provide for a healthier lake and will also benefit the entire Everglades
ecosystem. The project has been split into two phases, STA North and STA South. Design is complete and
construction for STA North is currently on going.
architecture . engineering . roofing consulting . construction management
)kwoeftAJ
architecture . engineering
AM
