The 11,300 SF <br />two-story Community Center offers a <br />meeting and performance space for <br />events, lectures, and community activities <br />overlooking a preserved mangrove area <br />and the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Preserve. <br />Because of the preserve careful consider- <br />ation was given to keep the existing trees <br />whenever possible. <br />The first story is dedicated to the 8,800 <br />SF library, which employs Florida Keys <br />architecture, large windows protected by <br />over hangs that double as verandas to <br />introduce natural daylight into the spaces <br />that will include a reading room, children’s <br />center and computer lab.
