<br />of Policing is a unique partnership
<br />between the City of Miami Police
<br />Department and the Miami-Dade
<br />County School Board. The 112,968
<br />SF facility will house state of the
<br />art training facilities for the police
<br />department as well as a 450 student
<br />magnet high school focused on law
<br />studies and forensic science. The police
<br />components will include a 14 lane
<br />indoor firing range; defensive tactics, in-
<br />service, and recruit classrooms, a gym,
<br />EOC, and a 200 seat auditorium.
<br />Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Training
<br />Facility, Doral, Florida. The proposed
<br />complex is on a 6-acre site adjacent to
<br />the existing headquarters of the Fire
<br />Rescue Department and is intended to
<br />provide the Fire Rescue Department
<br />with state-of-the-art facilities that
<br />will provide effective and realistic
<br />simulation tools, equipment, systems,
<br />and scenarios to support the critical
<br />training requirements of the firefighters.
<br />Flagler County Courthouse, Bunnell, FL.
<br />A new courthouse which will contain
<br />approximately 137,805 SF of space in
<br />a multi-story structure including six
<br />courtrooms, judicial chambers, Clerk of
<br />Court support space, and offices for the
<br />State Attorney and Public Defender. The
<br />complex will also include parking for
<br />375 cars.
<br />Collier County Courthouse Annex
<br />and Parking Garage, Naples, FL. This
<br />Courthouse annex consists of a 7-story,
<br />131,000 SF addition linked to the
<br />existing courthouse by a new 4-story
<br />atrium. The project also includes an
<br />addition to the existing energy plant, as
<br />well as a six level garage of 410,310 SF
<br />with capacity to park 1,125 vehicles.
<br />Collier County Courthouse Renovations,
<br />Naples, FL. The Courthouse renovations
<br />include the design of three new
<br />courtrooms, judicial chamber
<br />suites, and offices for the Probation
<br />department. The project involves
<br />phased renovations of two floors of the
<br />existing courthouse and is designed
<br />to allow for uninterrupted use of the
<br />current courthouse.
<br />Broward County Courthouse, Ft.
<br />Lauderdale, FL. The Spillis Candela
<br />DMJM joint venture team is providing
<br />master planning and design services for
<br />the Broward County Judicial Complex
<br />in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The 18 acre
<br />site includes the County jail, courthouse
<br />complex, energy center, and several
<br />county office buildings. The site is
<br />being planned to accommodate a
<br />campus-style master plan to include
<br />the Broward County Family Court, the
<br />Civil Court, and the Federal Courthouse.
<br />A series of pedestrian parks, plazas,
<br />and a riverfront promenade will also
<br />be included. The new 700,000 SF Court
<br />building will occupy a 1.55 acre portion
<br />of the campus and will be a mid-rise
<br />structure providing state of the art
<br />Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Training

<br />Project Designer
<br />Mr. Tao is an award winning
<br />designer and currently holds
<br />a title of Senior Associate at
<br />AECOM. He has approximately
<br />sixteen years of experience
<br />working as an architect. He
<br />began his career interning in
<br />various firms throughout Sao
<br />Paulo, Brazil and New York City.
<br />In New York City he was Junior
<br />Designer and Project Job Captain
<br />at a small design firm before
<br />joining AECOM in 1997 as Project
<br />Technical Coordinator. Mr. Tao is
<br />performing in the role of Project
<br />Architect / Designer for AECOM.
<br />He has been instrumental
<br />in the design, development,
<br />and coordination of design
<br />documents for over a dozen
<br />judicial projects throughout the
<br />United States.
