AECOM RFQ No. 15-04-01 <br />Town of Surfside <br />Community Center <br />Surfside, FL <br />Key Personnel: Nina Gladstone, Ovidio Rodriquez <br />The Town of Surfside, Florida selected AECOM to <br />provide comprehensive planning and design services <br />for their new 16,000 SF Community Center located <br />on the ocean in this midcentury modern inspired <br />community. <br />This new facility will replace a 1960’s era building that <br />had become functionally obsolete and will provide <br />community gathering spaces, a library, an aquatic <br />center and outdoor recreation amenities for the Town. <br />The completed new community center floats a <br />raised second floor over the smaller ground floor <br />uses to allow views through to the ocean beyond; the <br />architectural palette of smooth stucco, geometric <br />sun-screening devices and glass mosaic tile becomes <br />a contemporary reinterpretation of the 1950’s <br />architectural style that is seen in both the commercial <br />and residential architecture of the community. <br />Client: <br />Town of Surfside <br />Contact: <br />Guillermo Olmedillo <br />Town Manager <br />9293 Harding Avenue <br />Surfside, FL 33154 <br />(305) 861-4863 <br />golmedillo@townofsurfsidefl.gov <br />Year Completed: <br />2011 <br />Section F 37
